I like "Tom." I'm a very "Tom" kind of guy.
I'm not particularly keen on "Davidson," though. Ideally, a name like "Tom" has a good, strong, traditional last name, with two syllables.

When I was eleven I told everyone to call me Daeron (pronounced DAY-run) after Daeron's Runes in Lord of the Rings. My parents wouldn't have it. My entire family made fun of me so badly, I changed back. In retrospect I understand why they laughed, but it was a cool name. I even taught myself the runes and wrote poetry and secret messages in them.
I like Sara better now. It means "God's Princess", and that's way cool to me. I got my Japanese tutoring students to call me "Sara-Hime", Japanese for "Princess Sara".
Every now and then my brothers bring up "Daeron the Rune Princess", but I just remember it as a cool phase of my life where I lived in books and fantasy and...err...holy crap, it isn't over.

I think I would choose MAREK as my first name, spelled all in capitols too. I haven't figured out the last name yet, probably something where the spelling makes pronouncing it right the first time nearly imposible, just to make introductions more fun. Apparently Marek is becoming popular as a name for girls (I was told it is the Russian form of Mark ), so I'd have Liam as a middle name, sort of a spare.

Trust me, that is no fun at all. Nobody ever gets my name (my real name is Shani Wahrman... try to pronounce that!!)

I'm also a fan of Liam, though I don't think it's the name for me. I also like Ewan, though it wouldn't go with my last name (especially since it's actually just another form of the same name). Ewan Owen. Say it out loud.
I think I'll just stick with Jonathon. It's worked quite well for me for twenty-two years now, and I don't think I could see myself as anything else.

Hezekiah Snicklefritz, 'cause my prof used to say that since most kids hate their names, he'd just make sure his had a reason. He didn't want his kids bemoaning a perfectly nifty name like Samuel or Nathan or Gary.
Shy of that, though, I think I'll keep mine. Anna Susan Quiara Maureen. It's got a nifty sound to it.
the only part of my name i didn't like was my last name and marriage kind of fixed that.

Funny how easily you respond to other names though. Everyone at hatrack.ca was calling me "Bob" and I quite readily responded to it. In fact, I think I referred to myself as Bob on more than one occasion. It was almost odd to have one of them call me "Dan". Huh Go figure. And even my real name. My father has always called me Danny, but coming from anyone else that feels wrong. My friends call me Dan and my coworkers call me Daniel. If I work with someone I know it's Daniel in the lab and as soon as the day is over they start calling me Dan again. This isn't something I regularly tell people, it just seems to be what happens. I suppose I must tell them, how else would they know?

In high school, I had a friend who always called me Donovan and a few more who always called me Chuck. It was weird getting used to being called Chuck, because that's my dad's name.

Yeah, I will respond to about anything, Bob. There's a fairly large group that refer to me as "Insufferable".
Recently, a guy I ended up sitting next to on a plane misheard my name as "Barb" for some reason. Vegas would be the sort of small town where we'd keep running into each other and I just decided Barb would do as well as any.

The few specific people who called me Chuck were all in my painting class. For a smock, I wore one of my dad's old work shirts (which, of course, said Chuck on it). So there you go.

I'd change my name to Kayla, I think. I think of myself as Kayla now. It's weird.
My brother-in-law used different names for different places. One time, we saw him in Wal-Mark and stopped to chat for a second. Someone came up to him and said, "Hey Nick! How's it going?" Weird, considering his name isn't Nick. After the guy left, we asked him about it. He said that he's so bad at remembering people, he had different names, so when he ran into someone, he'd know where he knew them from by the name they called him. What a weirdo.

I always wanted to be named Elizabeth. Try growing up in the 70's and 80's with the name Jennifer. You and umpteenjillion other girls. All through school, I was *never* the only Jennifer in my class. I knew a guy in college that wanted to name his first son in such a way that it was spelled "John" but was pronounced "dum dum DUM" (those three musical notes that mean something bad has just happened in the movie or something sinister has been revealed). Imagine that kid's frustration with substitute teachers.

I like my first name. In my opinion, the perfect name is one that everyone knows how to spell, everyone knows how to pronounce, and it's unlikely to find another kid in the same class with the same name.
My last name is a problem. I would like something simple but memorable, short and sweet. Haven't yet figured out what that might be.

I LOVE my name, especially my married name. Though going through school as "Olivia" or "Libby/Livie" was interesting. Amazing how many teachers had trouble with it.
At least the new crop of "Olivia"s will have it easier: last year it was number ten on the list of most popular girls' names.

My mother wanted to give me a French name, since my father is French, and chose Adrian. But, because she named me after someone she knew (a man) she used the masculine spelling of the name, instead of the feminine Adrienne. I wish my name were spelled differently, I like the feminine spelling better.
She came close to calling me Jacqueline. I think that would have been cool.
I've always loved the name Angelique. I knew a girl when I was in high school whose name was Angie. I always thought it was short for Angela, but when I found out it was Angelique, I couldn't believe she shortened such a beautiful name! (not that Angela isn't beautiful, don't take me wrong )

Some folks try to call Abigail "Abby" and she, in her most vociferous 3 year old voice, says "No, I AbiGAIL."
She's got a chance to make it through as Abigail because there are so many Abby's. We have three Abby's in our subdivision alone. One of them is actually named Abby it's not a nickname of Abigail.
If my Abigail wants to go by Abigail, and is insistent, folks may go along with it. I had a friend in high school named Daniel and he refused to answer to Dan or Danny.
Dearest Ralphie, my mother's name is Toni. And it's not short for anything, it's just Toni. So, I'm sure she feels your pain.
