With great thanks to Papa Moose and Strider for being diligent about not letting the Landmark threads die -- we have something new. A Landmark Threads Archive. We can't keep everything here on Hatrack forever -- but Landmark Threads have become something special to the character of Hatrack, and we at the Card household just couldn't see them die a neglectful death. So, after a decent interval on the regular boards (basically after they've had some time for comment and are dropping to the bottom of the pile)-- they will be transferred to the Landmark Archives so that new members and old can be reminded what a wonderful community this is. Thanks to you all for that.

Very cool. Thank you.
Oh, love the new smilies, by the way.

I'll give you an old classic:
Especially for one who is here only sporadically, having them all in one place like that is great.
Thanks.

I wonder if I should point out that I posted about the landmark archives first . . .
No, on second thought, I probably shouldn't.
Thanks a bunch, Kristine. We really appreciate it.

I'd forgotten about Baldar's thread...
I can't believe I killed it.
Posted by Bob_Scopatz (Member # 1227) on :
Can I have my own archive? The Chronicles of Bob or something like that?
It'd almost be like getting published.
Anyway, thanks for the great new archive and the new graemlins.

You're right JonBoy -- didn't notice til after I posted this. You guys are WAY too quick on the uptake. I wanted to be the first to use the new smilies too -- but no chance of that!

Kristine talked to me!

It's okay, Mrs. Card, we still love you

I think I was the first to use the new smilies!
Yay!
I noticed them when I was posting in the Guess the Author: Round 15 thread, and put all four that were presently available into my post. Then I started a new thread about the smilies. They were being added as people started responding to the thread. It was fun to watch.
*pats self on back*
The Landmark Archive is a great idea! But I can't bump mine to the top. Ah, well.

How cool are the Cards?
The only other thing I have to say (besides wicked cool smilies) is "Oh man, now my landmark thread will never die."

And I'd just like to add that I'm more than a little creeped out at your stalkerish bumping of all my landmarks, Kayla. You're just lucky that I didn't notice them at the time because I wasn't on the computer all day and I didn't bother to check the second and third pages on the forum to see what I'd missed.
Posted by Zotto! (Member # 4689) on :
That is very cool. The landmark threads are awesome.

JB, I wasn't allowed to post on the landmark thread that you had up that day. I was merely trying to prove a point.

I love this! This is soo cool! I'm way excited!
and I must say that I've been dreaming of this smiley for a long time

Thanks for the great new smileys and the landmark thread archive! Hatrack is almost like a second home to me, and it's partly because of the wonderful admins here. Hats off to you!

As usual, my scatterbrain thoughts are out of place, but all we need now are Hatrack T-shirts!
Do you have these at Endercon etc.. and if so, can we purchase them from the website eventually?
P.S. Thanks for everything you do!
Posted by Bob_Scopatz (Member # 1227) on :
You know, I have to say that it is really fun and poignant to go read through some of the landmark threads in the archives. Very cool idea to archive them!!!
Posted by Pixie (Member # 4043) on :
Thanks a million! You Cards are the greatest.

...And yes, I put in as many smilies as possible. They're just SO GREAT!
Thanks again for the new graemlins and the landmarks archive!

Gee, this almost makes me wish I had done a landmark thread.
Boy, I love these new smilies.
They're a riot!!!

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :
Am I correct in my impression that it is impossible to respond to the threads in that forum? Is it possible to set it up so that threads are only moved there by mods, but can be responded to or, in the case of Kayla, deleted by the originator?
Cards and Mods <--- so people won't think I'm complaining

It hasn't been long enough. If they transfer it now, then nobody else can respond to your post. It's been three weeks, so it might not be terribly likely, but you never know. Sometimes new members like to go looking for those.
You are not forgotten!

Wow! Look what I missed! I was only gone three days and new Landmark Thread Archive, new smily! What else did I miss??
Time to exercise these new smilies!!
