I am giving mine to Kayla, because she is feeling ignored. Enjoy!

::Whines:: But...but..Storm...I want one too!

Posted by Kayla (Member # 2403) on :

Awww. . . I'm feeling all warm and squishy inside. [Big Grin]

(I ran over a really fat slug with the lawnmower the other day. O_o My son was really upset because he wanted to pour salt on it. I have no idea who could have given him such an idea. :coughfathercough: )

Here, Strider can pick out his own Slug, as he was also feeling ignored last night. [Wink]

Belladonna, there are enough slugs on that site for you, too. [Smile]

Can I donate a truckload of slugs to people who need them? They're destroying my strawberry patch.

Posted by Jacare Sorridente (Member # 1906) on :

slugs suck. What kind of inefficent engineer designed something that has to waste valuable resources secreting slime just to be able to move?

Posted by msquared (Member # 4484) on :

Put out a shallow pan of beer and watch them drink themselves to death.

My otherwise nature loving and peaceful wife, mcubed, delights in wasting salt on slugs.

Don't worry, Belladonna! I have a special slug just for you!

Posted by jeniwren (Member # 2002) on :

That's in the plan, m2...we just don't keep beer -- no one in the house drinks it -- so I keep forgetting to get it. It's on the grocery list, though.

Do they like their beer cold?

For me, there will only be one slug--the fearsome U.C.S.C. Banana Slug! Fiat Slug!

Posted by littlemissattitude (Member # 4514) on :

You do know, don't you, that in certain circles going around (tee-hee-hee) slugging people means you really, really like them. I mean really, really, really like them. [Wink]

Next thing you know, you'll start sticking your tongue out at them (which, in the neighborhood I grew up in, means "Kiss me quick, and don't slobber.")

Then again, it is spring. [Big Grin]

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Andrew, the Slug battlecry is my favoritest. [Smile]

Posted by msquared (Member # 4484) on :

jeni,

I would have to ask the wife, but since it is outside, usually at night, I would say room temperature is ok. I wonder if any Federal studies have ever been done. Maybe I should apply for a grant. [Smile]

My wife actually likes to wait for them to show up and then cover them with salt. She then watches them squirm and eventually steps on them. I just hope I don't wake up some morning with her dumping salt on me.

We don't even have slugs here. Or snails. Snails are much cooler.

We do, however, have plenty of these.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 619) on :

The Slug battlecry, Storm?? That must of developed after I graduated. What is it? What is it??

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Slime'em, Slugs!

I'll never forget the day my 3-year-old daughter pointed out a slug in the garden and said, "Look mommy! Isn't he so cute?"

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Here's a slug for T. Analog Kid, because I know I'm being kind of dickish in the random thoughts thread. [Smile] Sorry.

Posted by BelladonnaOrchid (Member # 188) on :

Yay! I have my own special slug!

Now the world is truly complete! [Big Grin]

I can live again!

Where the heck do these threads come from?

I swear, I must over look a ton of threads because all of a sudden I see a new thread with x number of posts that I didn't see earlier and it was from a couple of days ago!

And this is a HORRIBLE dobie!! Swift kicks in the @ss was probably the best. [Wink] [Wink] [Wink] jk

It's a good one. But it will die and many will weep.

Posted by flyby (Member # 3630) on :

People only weep if they care. No one's gonna go osama over some fluff thread dying. It's a dobie, and people live with the fact that it's lifespan is supposed to be short.

now you're gonna make me go osama on you!

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

As long as I keep being a jerk to people; as long as there is a fat, slimy slug in the world; as long as this forum is alive; this thread will never die.

ps. if the grammar in that post is awful, we did our best, yes we did.

*giggles* I loved putting salt on slugs when I was little!!

Hmm...well, this is mostly unrelated, but I found a humongous eel-salamander-thing in a flooded swampy area by my house today. It was 3 feet long and had little eyes and tiny little legs. I was wading around in the water with my dogs, and nearly bumped into it....It was very slimy to the touch. *wrinkles nose partly in disgust and partly because 3-foot-long amphibians are uber-cool* I chased it around for awhile, but it swam away.

Uh...anyways, it kind of looked like a slug.

[Big Grin]

Eeeew! [Eek!]

Posted by Avadaru (Member # 3026) on :

*grins* Yeah, I know....I'm a tomboy. [Razz]

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

I second the 'eeeeww'. My imagination does not permit me to handle creepy, crawly varmints very well. I can just imagine your little feller, for instance, leaping straight up into the air to plant 10,000 suckers of doom into my flesh where it would promptly paralyze me with some kind of venom so it could suck my guts out at its leisure.

But don't mind me. You just play with giant, slimy slugs at your pleasure. [Smile]

*laughs* Yeah, I was pretty creeped out at first...but then I realized that the thing was kind of cute, in a slimy, gross kind of way, and that it didn't move very quickly, so I petted it and watched it swim. The dogs thought it was cool, too. [Smile]

Posted by BelladonnaOrchid (Member # 188) on :

Ugh...::shivers:: I change my Eeew! to a resounding ACK! How gross!

Posted by Ryuko (Member # 5125) on :

Yucky.. Not being partial to slugs of the alive variety, or of the ammunition variety, I delight in slugs of the punch variety.

*Punches innocent person who only came in to view the thread*

Haha! You thought that kind of thing only happened in the Tag thread!!

Posted by Avadaru (Member # 3026) on :

Ooh, that was sneaky of you, Ryuko. [Razz]

And honestly, I don't know why you people find big slimy critters so disgusting [Wink]

::leaves thread with a bruise::

That hurt... [Mad]

Posted by BelladonnaOrchid (Member # 188) on :

::Bites Ryuko::

Ha! Take that!

You are not impervious to things that usually happen on the Tag! thread either!

OW! I've got sunburn!

[Frown]

(Randomly pokes the next person who appears on the thread)

You do not want to start a poking war with me. I am the poking master.

no comment.

*stern look*

This thread is for slugs and lovers of slugs! All others, RAUS! SCRAM! VAMOOSE! SHOO! You horny teens take your verdammt hugging and poking to the hug thread where it belongs right now. Don't make me get the belt out! [Mad]

I bet the next thing you try to do is make me go to bed. Argg...meanie!

Posted by T_Smith (Member # 3734) on :

If this thread ends up getting more posts than the Hug thread, I will make a mental note to drench Storm Saxon in ketchup if fate would be so kind enough to allow me to meet him in person.

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

**effort to get more posts than the hug thread**

I have to do it, in honor of the noble Ron Weasley .

Posted by Avadaru (Member # 3026) on :

In case any of you were wondering (Yeah, I bet you were all losing sleep over this one....who am I kidding... [Roll Eyes] [Wink] [Razz] ) the thing that I found in the swamp was a Three-toed Amphiuma. Anyways...just thought I'd share that [Big Grin]

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

That's really neat! Thanks. [Smile]

Posted by BelladonnaOrchid (Member # 188) on :

Oh that's even grosser than I thought it was at first! Yuck! And you touched that thing?!?

Posted by Avadaru (Member # 3026) on :

*grins* Yep. I petted it. [Big Grin]

Posted by Jibble IV (Member # 5283) on :

Hey Storm can I have a slug? Just for being a noob? Maybe . . . please [Smile]
And just for the record Avadaru I definitely would not have pet that thing, unless maybe I knew it didn't bite.

Posted by Avadaru (Member # 3026) on :

*grins* One of my many reckless habits, Jib, is picking up critters that I probably shouldn't - snakes being the most common. Usually they're not poisonous, so it's no big deal when they bite (which they usually do...), but I have picked up a rattler and several water moccassins before. Not the smartest thing to do, I know, but this slimy thing was relatively tame compared to those experiences [Razz]

Posted by Jibble IV (Member # 5283) on :

Well I give you credit Avadaru you're braver than I am. Whereabouts do you live that you find all these interesting critters?

Posted by Avadaru (Member # 3026) on :

Louisiana - home of crawly things. Gators, mosquitoes, snakes, nutria, fire ants....pretty much any and every kind of annoying varmint resides here, from what I've observed. It's nice for an outdoors girl like me, though - the woods surrounding a bayou near my house are great for exploring.

Posted by Jibble IV (Member # 5283) on :

Oh . . .wow . . .fun [Roll Eyes]

Posted by Avadaru (Member # 3026) on :

*slaps frantically at rogue mosquitoes that have somehow managed to get in the house* Oh, yeah, tons of fun...you have no idea what you're missing! [Razz]

Posted by Jenny Gardener (Member # 903) on :

Did you know that slugs can slip over the blade of a knife without getting sliced? Yay slime!

Posted by Human (Member # 2985) on :

Why is it that most things don't gross me out, but slugs hit the ick factor head on?

Posted by Dead_Horse (Member # 3027) on :

Avadaru, You have nutria nearby? How cool! I love rodents (and edentates, too, so the armadillos and anteaters don't get jealous.) I have 2 gerbils. My husband won't let me bring anything larger into the house. Well, he wasn't too keen on the gerbils, either, but I snuck them in while he wasn't looking.

You know, I expected "slug" to mean punch. [Dont Know]

Posted by Koga (Member # 5646) on :

that's what I thought it meant too. [Confused]

Posted by Storm Saxon (Member # 3101) on :

Slug threads are way cooler than hug threads.

Icarus

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

You know, I needed one of those!

(Now where did I leave my salt?)

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

I assumed he was showing me a picture of some kind of slug, since I didn't see a shell. Color me dumb if I was wrong.

I've always heard that if you pour salt on a slug, it grotesquely dehydrates them pretty instantly, and kills them quickly.

I know this works for bullfrogs.

Posted by Jenny Gardener (Member # 903) on :

I could use several slugs right now. The compost bin is full.

My friend has a basement full of slugs. She actually feeds them dog food from time to time!
