Well, at Rivka's encouragement I checked Murder on the Orient Express out of the library today. It will be my bedtime reading for the next few days. My first Agatha Christie!

I just read it myself a couple weeks ago for the first time. Great book. Of course, it has one of the most famous solutions in the history of the genre, so (unfortunately) I knew the ending long before I ever cracked the book. That's one of the reasons it took me so long to get around to reading it. But it's so well written that even knowing the solution does very little to diminish the enjoyment of watching it unfold.

And of course, if you haven't spoiled the surprise yet, so much the better. [Smile]

I knew the solution to The Murder of Roger Ackroyd before I read the book (the biography of Agatha Christie I read for a school assignment gave it away) and still enjoyed it. And that one is much more of a "tricked ya!" solution than Orient Express.

Do not let Poirot trade pillows with you. The mustache wax 'll make your head slide off.

I read Orient Express when I was still pretty young (thirteenish), so my experience was unspoilered. [Wink] Enjoy, Uprooted!

I saw the movie years ago, but fortunately, I have a really poor memory, so I think it will all be new to me.

Great stuff.

Miss Marple is a dear too, but Poirot is my favourite.

I adore Agatha Christie.

Death on the Nile is my other favorite Poroit book.
