Every year for the past 3 years I've worked with the After School Matters/Gallery37 program in downtown Chicago. This program auditions students throughout the city and takes the best from all high schools. The students are then trained as apprentice artists in their chosen art form. These arts include everything from Puppetry to Jazz Band. It's a really cool program that pays kids (it's a job, not day camp) to perfect an artform that they're interested in.
I am the musical director/pianist of the musical theater program. And let me tell you, we're almost 3 weeks in, and this is going to be one heck of a show. This is one of the most talented groups of folks I've worked with. If you live in or around Chicago you should check it out. It's free, and you'll get to see some seriously awesome rising talent.
Go to this website, The Journeymen, and reserve a place ASAP. Last year the shows sold out in a very short amount of time. I'd love to meet/see some Hatrackers there! Posts: 511 | Registered: Mar 2006
