Last weekend I stood surrounded by the relentless demons that have haunted and hounded me my whole life, and I was unmoved. It was a personal breakthrough that has made me a stronger, calmer person.
I went to a science fiction convention and came back with money left over.
Imagine dropping a heroin addict into a barrel of the stuff only to see him fidget and ask to be let out and you'll get the general idea. Everywhere I looked I saw rows and shelves and bins of items that I once coveted with a white-hot burning desire, and I felt nothing.

I had to include that to be honest. My Firefly/Serenity weakness is still a battle that I fight every single da... that I mean to fight someday.

I never really was a big collector, well except for baseball cards...and I think that was a requirement for a young male when I was a kid...particularly since I played baseball as well.
I do tend to track down every book by my favorite authors, but not really to collect them. I don't care if they are paperback or hardback, new or beat up. As long as I can read them over and over again I am happy. Of course members of my family have always thought it odd that I wanted to keep bookshelves of books so I could read them again someday, but you never know when you will be in the mood for a particular book.
I'm not all that big into autographs, but I think that is mostly because I don't have the money to spend on getting them. If I had more money, I would have liked to have been standing next to in that line to get Summer to sign something.

My weakness was the Middle Earth CCGs (The Wizards, The Dragons, The Lidless Eye, The White Hand). I got about 85% of a complete set of The Wizards.
I've finally hardened myself enough to sell these cards, but now there's very little demand for them. Should've sold when LotR mania was at it's highest, I guess.

The sad part is when you try to break that particular addiction, donate everything to worthy causes . . . and start trying to find evry single one again . . .

The really sad thing is that celebrities exist who actually need to make their money by selling their autographs. I NEVER want to put myself in that position. Nor would I ever pay for an autograph. It just seems silly.
