Check out these photos of the actual hurricane. There are links to 5 or 6 on that page.

[Eek!]

edit: just kidding. It's a tornado. [Big Grin]

If I saw the one linked at "Katrina 6" (acutally katrina3.jpg - go figure) I'd swear it was the end of the world. <shivers>

Karl: It does sorta look like Gozer the Gozarian is about to pop out of that blue spot in the cloud doesn't it?

Wow, those are some amazing pictures. I think I'd be absolutely terrified if something like that came close to me.

It is beautiful.

But it's not Katrina.

I did think they looked more "tornado-y" than hurricaney. But then, I've never seen a hurricane, so I figured they just must look more like tornadoes than I pictured them.

I thought the landscape looked surprisingly midwestern for the gulf coast. Still, very cool pictures.

yeah they also struck me as very tornadoey. Felt like I was watching clips from Twister.

The pictures on the photographer's website are spectacular though.

Photos like that make me wish I were a storm chaser.

Weather is so beautiful...if only it would just stay in the sky!

I wasn't going to call it a hoax when I read this thread yesterday. The landscape smacked of midwest to me immediately, but cloud formations can stun you almost anywhere. And remember, hurricanes do spawn tornados.

I saw those pictures and one word entered my mind: supercell.

I'm glad someone remembered snopes, cause I obviously can't. [Smile]

The last one reminded me of a tornado a lot.
