I smiled, and even laughed. Genuinely. The last time I enjoyed a new TV show this much it was Firefly. I don't like Gilmore Girls as much as Firefly, but I do like it more than pretty much every non-Firefly TV show I've seen.
I must admit, though, that part of my enjoyment might be that I find Lauren Graham quite attractive.
But still, if I had to sum up, I would basically say:

I believe I was seeing reruns. At the end of the second episode I saw they said there'd be a new episode in a week or something.

Hah! This is totally my favorite show these days. Just bought the first two seasons on DVD and I've been raving about it on my LiveJournal for awhile.

But then you try to quote it, and it comes out so much slower than they do it, and you feel like an idiot.

For me it's the deadpan and the constant reference-dropping. Especially the deadpan. Also the repartee, which I admit is often delivered quickly (but the quick delivery is not what I like, it's the content).

Do they ever do repeats of Veronica Mars? I liked the first two or three episodes I've seen, but Tuesday nights is NOT a good night for TV for me.

I've seen almost all the episodes from the first 4 seasons (except one from season 2). What can I say, I'm addicted!

Gilmore Girls starts with new episodes on January 25th.
I just knew you'd like it, twinky. This is seriously a wonderful show. I just bought the second season.
It's out there. And it's wonderful.
Michel: Why did you tell her that I don't eat carbs? Lorelai: I'm sorry! I thought you and your mother were close! Michel: You assumed! And you know what happens when you assume! Lorelai: What? Michel: I don't know - something about a donkey. Some stupid American phrase. But the point is you stole my Giselle and turned her into a mother!!

The actors in the show don't seem to so much act as say their line(s) as quickly as possible so that the camera can cut to the next person and they can then, quickly, say their line(s). Repeat this formula from the beginning to the end of the show. Also, the dialogue tends to be in the style of "no one speaks while another is speaking" which always strikes me as incredibly fake and not really fit for drama.

It depends on what you're looking for. The quick exchanges remind me of Firefly, and that alone is enough to make me like the show. Now if only it were set in space...

It's a little too "Aw shucks" for me to commit to seriously, but when GG and Desperate Housewives finish their run and come out on DVD, I'll be sure to rent them. I don't think that there is anything shamefully feminine about watching witty women. Then again, despite the Governor's talk of girly men, I don't think that there is anything shamefully feminine about anything important.

I like Gilmore Girls. One time, someone told me I was like Rory (I think I spelled that right) from Gilmore Girls. I took it as a compliment. Of course, she could have been trying to tell me how opinionated I am.. *shrug*

A friend asked me to record Gilmore Girls for her when her VCR was out. I think it was when Smallville was on right after anyway so it wasn’t a problem in the least. But I watched. Now I’m hooked. It’s so witty with the sarcastic humor. I love it!

I can't find the normal discussion thread (one link I had said it's no longer available.
What did you think about the season finale? ..... .... ... .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. ... .... ..... Rory dropped out of Yale, and is living with her grandparents. Lorelai proposed to Luke? I'm just not sure what I think, but i can't wait for the new season.

It's an OK show, and I'm always entertained when I'm watching it, but soap opera style shows always turn me off. I'd rather my melodrama have capes, thanks so much.
(PS. I don't like Smallville either, which makes my above statement ironic. But it's only because Smallville started to suck. BIG TIME.)

I think there's gotta be something more to the Rory situation that we didn't see. Like she's pregnant or sick or something. Because there is no way that Richard and Emily would let her give up so easily otherwise.

I don't understand why they acted like the only choices were for her to drop out or go back next semester. Lots of schools let you take a semester off.

I think she probably is taking a semester off, not actually dropping out, or maybe two semesters off.
I don't think she's pregnant or sick, they would have added that into the cliff hanger like her in a doctor's office or throwing something into the bathroom trash.

I wonder if Lorelai is serious about asking Luke to marry her.
I wonder what Emily and Richard will think about the proposal.
I wonder if Luke will try to get the Twickham House back.
I wonder if Jess will show up for the wedding.
I wonder if Rory will go back to journalism or will do something wacky this summer.
And I wonder the same thing RRR did about Rory's choices AND why Jackson's vasectomy was treated so lightly (with him being told basically that he's getting it done right now).

GG cracks me up. After all these seasons, its still as funny if not funnier, than the first episode. I hate that its so under-rated.
