Well, against human activity as a significant causal agent in climate change, anyway:

I forgot to mention it, but I was disappointed by the abrupt way the article ended, and by the generally weak final paragraph.

My 8 year old was freaking out about global warming last night. As we talked more about it, it turns out her panic was based on a friend having seen "The Perfect Storm". [Wall Bash]

Now my husband and I took different tactics. I explained that global warming had been going on for decades and is unlikely to kill the majority of people suddenly. My husband basically said he didn't think it was real. But I guess when she gets to college age she's going to think he's out of it on most stuff anyway.

Pooka, are you sure you meant The Perfect Storm? That was a true story about a freak storm in the Atlantic.
You are probably thinking of that disaster movie that came out last year, I can't recall the title.

The Day After Tomorrow?

(Disclaimer: I didn't see either movie.)

Yeah, that's the one. I didn't see it, but it seemed to go over the top, even if you believe global warming is real.

The Perfect Storm ONTOH, was a great film.

By "a good overview" you mean "an overview slanted in favor of my side in the argument"? [Smile]

I'm not saying it's necessarily incorrect, but the language it uses definitely betrays its bias.

I think the thread title makes that clear, though.

There is bias there, sure, and I did try to indicate that in the thread title (rather than calling it, say, "A Summary of the Arguments for and Against Human Activity as a Major Factor in Climate Change"), but you don't have to scrape to far to get the facts free of the slant they're mired in. Or that was how I felt about it, anyway.

I just finished reading it this morning. I thought it was really good, because it covers all of the major bases. People like me and people like MT's husband (who have diametrically opposed opinions on the subject) can both read the article and come away feeling as though it was worth reading.

Thanks for the link.
