Nathan here. Well, first day of marriage and already I'm getting the 'I have a headache' excuse. Actually, she really does. A pretty bad one, one where she's asking for help.
So, here are some theories:
1)Utah's really dry air. 2)Sinus pressure 3)traveling\stress etc.
Things we tried:
1)Humidifyer 2)Pressure point stuff- she whined on this one. 3)Tylenol
Well, she says this is the worst headache she's ever had, and would appreciate help. Thanks all!

Yeah, sometimes my dad gets migraines so bad the only thing that works is for him to go to the hospital and get a shot of painkiller. I'm quite prone to headaches myself (I get them at least once a week), and all I can say is that so far, Ibuprofen still works for me. And when it doesn't, sleep is about the only thing I can do.

I don't think the headache is nearly bad enough for the ER. Besides, we'd have to hogtie her to get her there, her friend Sarah (correctly) points out.
In any case, we threw the happy couple out. They're upstairs.

Ask jamie if it's worse than the one she had when she visited my house the last time. If she says it is worse, take her to the hospital. Because now, I'm worried. I just remembered how she curled up into the fetal position on the couch and didn't even play with the dog or the Boy.

jexx, are you seriously suggesting that I go upstairs and knock on the door of a newly-married couple?
They could be SLEEPING!
Anyway, I think it's unlikely to be ER-worthy. It's just a really bad sinus headache, caused by the really dry air, most likely. And almost certainly excacerbated by the lack of sufficient sleeping for most of the past week.

Is it like my 24 hour headaches? A drilling sort of pain on one side that moves from one side to the next.

If it's a sinus headache like she was mentioning, you could try a Sudafed. It would also keep her up all night, and that can't be bad (nudge nudge, wink wink).

Sorry, rivka, my response was aimed at Nathan. *grin* I would never suggest such a thing, especially since I cussed jamie out for being on AIM earlier tonight (while their room was being humidified).
Alright, I will stop worrying.

Hmmm... maybe some saline nasal spray to loosen things up. Or you could try some Afrin, as long as you don't use it for more than a couple days in a row (although that might give similar side effects to Sudafed, so be careful). Seems like you're running out of options.
Well, everyone has honeymoon horror stories. Looks like you're getting yours out of the way early. Good luck.

Vovka hates airplane travelling for just that reason. He gets the worst headaches. And I suspect there was plenty of stress of both kinds today.
Yeah, too bad they are gone because motrin is a good combo with tylenol in my experience.

Endorphins can come from : physical exertion sugar phenylalanine (sp?) properly executed marital relations meditation whatever music one enjoys.
Fluctuations in the levels of these various things can affect endorphin effectiveness.
I could probably get rich selling a soda sweetened with sugar and nutrasweet.

Well, perhaps you just weren't giving it your all..
Pratice, pratice, pratice!
(Not really...there is good evidence that there are a lot more endorphines released during sex than other physical activities. Why do you thin it is so popular a pastime? )
So if my in-laws were put to death in a non cruel way for a crime they were guilty of, I'd get a rush of endorphins from it?

Umm... I hate to drag this thread out of the gutter... no, really, I do. But, here are a few remedies that have ALWAYS worked for me, a chronic suffer of headaches. First, if she can stand to hold her head over a steaming bowl, an infusion of eucolyptus, lavender, chamomile, peppermint and rosemary will address most of the issues that bring on headaches, including stress, sinus issues, and inflamation. Plus, she'll smell really good. Or, if she needs to be lying down, you could give her a head rub with eucolyptus oil while she drinks a cup of chamomile tea. The oil works on her sinuses, and the tea helps with the inflamation that causes headaches. Also, ginger is supposed to help reduce headaches, though I've never used it for that. Mate, a type of tea from South America, is used to treat migraines, and is very effective. Plus, it's an amazing stimulant, and that can only be good on a honeymoon. Maybe you both could drink it...

My husband gets migraines. I'm afraid I don't understand them but what can one do? I hope she can get some R&R. Rivka, if they have to skip tomorrow's gathering I can still offer you a ride.

Sorry to hear you have a headache, Mack! What an inconvenient time.
For muscle-related headaches, I've found that a gentle massage of the neck and head helps a lot. In particular, you can feel the places where the muscles are knotted up. Applying gentle pressure there for a minute or so at a time helps a lot. You might give it a try to see if that can get rid of some of the pain, even if the headache is mostly caused by something else.

I didn't see the thread early enough, but my suggestions would have been breathing through a steamy hot washcloth and taking 600mg of celebrex. And if she actually forgot to bring her celebrex or bextra, I could have called some in to a 24 hour pharmacy in SLC. All I would need is her birthdate and my DEA number, and I already know both of those. I still could do that for Sunday, actually, which is why I decided to post anyway. Since it's her birthday right now I will graciously not kick her first for forgetting her meds.
She can find general numbers in here to have me paged, or she can look up my home phone number, or she can post or email a number to have me call someone or the pharmacy. Oh, and I just hooked up my new answering machine/telephone this morning and I haven't been able to come up with a good message yet so it still has no message. I was playing with it, and reading the instructions, that's why I didn't see the this thread.

I know where to get such things at home in L.A., but not here. Maybe Nathan does.

*nod* We tried that, and I think it helped -- but not much.

Don't worry about it. We already took care of that last night, before it was her birthday.
Theca, that is VERY generous and sweet of you! I haven't seen the happy couple yet this morning (I believe they should be back from the airport soon), but I will make sure Jamie knows.

I've heard that putting a banana peel on the forehead helps. Anyone else hear of that? I haven't tried it, because I don't like bananas.

I called, it's definitely the correct pharmacy. I used your maiden name because that is what your cards and license all say, plus you have a riteaid account in NH, so I figured that would be less confusing for them for multiple reasons. They wanted my office phone # but I am not on call so they can't reach me so take my phone # to the pharmacy in case you run into problems.
I suggest 400mg now and 200mg later today then 200mg bid prn.

I think if it is pretty mild/gone then just take 200mg twice today and then as needed after that. I didn't think it was completely gone. Oh, and I did call in a few extras in case of more flight problems.
