I have two disparate and equally important thoughts on a so-called "soup season." First, there is no "soup season," soup is good year-round. Tomato soup and toast is good on any day of the year. Second, "soup season" evokes a picture of a guy in an orange jacket and a rifle stalking through the woods in search of elusive Cambell's soup cans.

We got some mason jar soup mixes as Christmas gifts and are working our way through a three bean and pea soup. Its amazing how long one crock of soup will feed two people.
I love split pea, but it makes Tom green. I cannot make a lentil soup that I like from scratch for some reason, but Tom usually enjoys my creations.
Tomato soup can only be eaten with grilled cheese sandwiches.
Cream soups are growing on me, but slowly, and chowders are frightening.
There is nothing like a good chicken dumpling soup or minestrone. Mmm!
Asian soups are beginning to grow on me too, now that Sara's introduced us to a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant in town.
Chili is a staple in our household, but people laugh at us because we put carrots in it.

I love putting carrots in my chili too. I love the bit of sweetness they add paired against the heat of the chilis.

Hey, B puts carrots in his chili too. Right now we are working through several containers of turkey soup my neighbor made, and after that, I think some potato leek soup. Yummy!

This is terribly declasse for a food snob, but I'm really digging Wyler's beef boullion crystals. Mmmm, hot beefy goodness in the afternoon.
Full of salt, of course, but I need salt (low blood pressure, greatly upped intake of water, no other added salt in diet).

Hey, Sara, I hear you. I add more salt to my food when I cook here than I ever did in Canada, but it's also so much more important, especially when you're sweating all the friggin' time!
Although, with monsoons, it's been cool for the last month. Nice.
Yeah, that had absolutely nothing at all to do with soup.
