...or a basic blues instruction book, much like the one I got for Christmas from some friends.
First I'll work on my chops, and then... Ray Charles library, here I come! I'm already hard at work re-learning my sevenths and inversions. Next up: heavy left-hand syncopation while playing square rhythms in the right. This has always been the bane of my existence (much like doing 4:3 or, even worse, 7:6), and I expect to have a very hard time with it. Still, if I stick to it, I might become a passable improv blues player, which would be, frankly, f*#@ing awesome.
Incidentally, the thread title is from a Danko Jones song. His band plays a pretty hard flavour of blues rock. Their last album features such gems as "Love is Unkind."
