See, I'm assuming he's a man. Actually, I'm assuming he exists at all.

I get packages. I get them from UPS. I find them right outside my door.

I hear someone coming up the steps. I hear a package get set down. I bolt for my door. There's a knock even as I turn the handle, then curse because I didn't unlock it. I look out the peephole--nothing.

I run to the window.

No one.

In fact, I have never seen my UPS man. Or woman.

Or whatever. Robot?

Whoever he is, he's a master at knock and run.

I know mine! Very well in fact. I do too much Ebay and internet shopping. [Blushing]

Nice looking young man. He calls me "Mrs. Ward" and always smiles at the kids and asks them how they're doing.

My postal carrier is an older man, and he talks to my kids by name and calls me "Ms. Adrian"

Then again, maybe that's just small town living.

Mine does too, but the Fed Ex guy/gal (there are two of them) stops and has me sign stuff.

The postal carrier doesn't even knock. He just leaves stuff on the porch.

I live in an apartment complex, so they don't give me my packages if I don't sign for them. I know the UPS guy very well.

If you want to meet him, you can call UPS and request that packages not be left without a signature. But then you run the risk of not getting packages when you're not home.

Then I'd NEVER get my packages.

Besides, that'd ruin them game of catching a glimpse of him after the knock.

Sorta like trying to catch Santa Claus.

Actually, around this time of year, the UPS man IS santa claus!

...and my swords are in big long boxes when he delivers them.

Okay, then, you could set up surveillance equipment outside your front door and link it to your computer so you can see him when he comes.

But again, I guess that would ruin the game.

And he might be creeped out by a camera.

Unless he couldn't see it... [Evil Laugh]

That reminds of a funny story about the UPS man where I used to live.

When my daughter was born, a lot of people sent us baby presents by UPS. One day, I answered the door to receive a package.

The UPS man looked at me and said, "You used to live on A St. Then you got married and live on B street." At this time, I lived at neither of those locations. All I could say was, "You've got some memory!" [Smile]

Of course, that was years and years ago. The only time I have seen my UPS delivery person in recent years was when the last Harry Potter book came out. My daughter had received hers earlier that day by Fedex (and that was a hit and run delivery, by the way). I had opted for "super saver" shipping and wasn't expecting mine till later the next week. When I came to the door and saw what the UPS woman was holding, she must have been amazed to see a grown woman jumping up and down in excitement. [Razz]

We know our UPS guy. And he knows our dogs. We used to have one that, unless care was taken, would immediately beeline for his truck and jump inside.

He always gave them biscuits, which might have had something to do with it...
