I know we have Civil engineers out the wazoo. But, I was wondering if we have any Mech E's that have taken the PE exam whether they passed or failed. You see I've had everything but the capstone for a mech E degree and am seriously thinking of taking the PE exam in Mech E in a year and a half rather than Chemical engineering. The work I do is in materials and somewhere in between but actually closer to Mech E in a lot of ways. I know I should do a test prep course, and there's a couple of them with money back guarantees that I probably will do, but I'm trying to figure out if I should start studying now or what.

My father took the PE exam about 15 years ago, and while he seems to retain his school learning much better than most, he found the course he took invaluable.
In fact, he loved it (and the book that went along with it), that he bought an extra copy and gave it to me when I started studying ME. I refer to it more than any other book.
