Because, of course, 1000 posts is right up there in importance along with, oh, I don't know, graduating from university. Or surviving 25 years of marriage. Or raising 6 children well. Ya.

I'm not so sure. I've always considered forum anniversaries a more significant event than posting one thousand times, but that's probably because I've been here for nearly four years, and I still don't have a thousand posts.

Quid, I must take this opportunity to tell you how everlastingly cool you are. You are one of my top five favorite Hatrackers, I believe. I like to refer flippantly to my friend who flew to Sri Lanka to marry the geek of her dreams.
Happy 1,000!
And no, I'm not telling who the other members of the top five are.

Oh, Annie, you are so so sweet! Thank you! Those are happy tears, btw.

I can't believe I didn't post here yet! You're one of my favorite hatrackers. (Quid, will you translate your screenname for us latin-illiterates?) I've always enjoyed your posts immensely. It's particularly nice to see someone livening up things in the wee hours (my time) on the board. I'm glad you are back online more often nowadays. And I think it's so cool how you and Fahim met and fell in love and married. Congratulations on reaching 1000 posts. Here's to many thousands more.
When I heard the news Sunday morning about the tidal waves, I was so worried about you, and was greatly relieved to get online and see you posting all the latest news for us. When I read that you were president of the relief society in your branch, I knew they were in good hands. Let us know what we can do to help you. Is there anything you need from here? What can we send you?

Tatiana, you and Eljay and Jeniwren and Rivka and Annie and so many other people . . . the list goes on - from writing lists and family history lists and forums that I'm on - so many people I've never met IRL have shown so much concern, asking what they can do to help, sending their prayers and goodwishes.
I'm in a really emotional state right now anyway because of all the devastation here. I want to cry when I watch the news. It's horrible. So of course I get really emotional here, too, which I swore I was not going to do. But then, I started this thread the day before the crap hit the fan.
Quidscribis - well, I don't actually remember what it means anymore. It's supposed to mean something along the lines of "it is well written" or something like that, but I was also rather flexible in my spelling and whatnot because I was also looking for how it looked and rolled off the tongue. See, I'm a wannabe published author. I am a writer. I write for a couple of magazines and I'm working on many novels, all scifi/fantasy. Why else would I be here?
Anything we need - Fahim and I are fine and don't need anything. I wasn't sure if you meant personally or as in people in general here. Donations to the Red Cross, for example, would be a great idea. I talk a lot more about that and what's happening out here in the other thread, the one where the death count keeps rising. I hope it stays where it is or even drops, though. The Red Cross is already in the country and helping out. They need donations to fund the relief efforts. But go to the other thread to discuss it further cuz I'd rather keep it all in one place. It's all my brain can handle right now.
It's time for bed. I'm tired, and tomorrow, I go to the church to help package and distribute food and clothing.
