Well I've been anticipating this movie for quite some time now and I managed to see it opening night at a theater near my house. It wasn't quite what I expected, its scare value was generally low. But its pure SHOCK value was... intimidating. The cinematography was very "Se7en"-esque, and the film was clearly edited to meet the requirements of an "R" rating (the film's original rating was NC-17 due to pure gore).

Now usually movies which include a plot twist (and are crafted by one M.Night) are mediocre at best... But the plot twist in this movie worked INCREDIBLY well.

OK, now the specifics. The puppet doll thing at first was quite humorous, but as the film progressed it got to me more and more. And after the girl in the "lockjaw" sequence gets it off and the puppet comes in riding on a squeaky tricycle, that did it for me. The puppet from that point on was generally terrifying.

And at the very end, when the "corpse" gets off the ground and rips the fake wound off of his head... the theater was just dead silent, once again, I think the plot twist in this case worked extremely well.

That's all from me for now.....

The other crazy part of this movie was when the photographer was walking through his apartment, and makes it into his dark room.....

I saw the movie yesterday, it was reallly really good. Like you said, it wasn't necessarily scary, but the plot twists were great.

One of the good parts of the movie for me was when the wife was holding the gun on the hospital worker (Zep), and the whole theater was whispering "shoot him, shoot him!!".

I also think the movie had a creative ending, besides the whole dead guy being alive. You know Dr Gordon dies from blood loss, and you can only guess that Adam also dies, as no one knows where he is.
