Well, it's hard to plan in LD's absence. However, most shindae at the Dove's have started one-ish. Likely this one will too.
(And one-ish works at the fall-back position too. )
Sandy, maybe assume it's at one-ish and I'll pick you up at noon? (You do still want to carpool, neh?)

Yes- I'm on vacation in Michigan until July 6th. Yes- There will be food, fun and festive drinks at my house beginning at 1PM on July 11. Yes- It has been far too long since I've seen all you good folks and I'm looking forward to the Shinda.

Alas, I will not be there. Yes, it is because of a birthday again.
When you have five siblings, four of whom are married, and eight siblings-in-law and a spouse and two kids of my own, you spend most weekends doing birthdays.
This time, though, it's my birthday. I didn't get all of them presents for nothing.

Alas, I have plans that weekend, some of them could be rescheduled but not all. So, I'll have to miss yet another Shinda, and wait patiently until late summer / early fall.

WELL, seeing as it how I am basically on foot, and public trans, I will be needing a lift, either from the general Pasadena area, or somewhere near downtown... apart from that, I will either get lost or not be getting there in time... I will ask Ma if she can drive me, but magic eight ball says the answer looks like no (I don't really have one, but that's what it WOULD be saying...).

Pardon me for being an idiot, but what is a shinda? Is it shorthand for shindig?
I really don't know, hope no one is offended...
LD, where in MI were you? JenniK and I just got back from MI on Monday, we were in the Kalkaska/Mancelona area (half an hour from Traverse City) for 10 days!

Kwea, actually, it's sort of a typo for shindig, but it caught on.
D, let me figure out how much out of the way it is to grab you on the way from those two locations, and I'll let you know if we can give you a ride.

Well, kids, I'm sorry to have to say it, but it looks like I'm not going to be able to go. I booked my psych eval for sunday, and DAMN if I'm gonna miss this... Again, my apologies. I'll be sure not to double book the next one, eh?

We'uns is gonna be there (and greatly looking forward to it). We were going to offer to pick Damien up, too, since we go through Pasadena to get to Ladydove's; we're sorry he can't make it. Kinda.

Wish I could come. And I will come to a Shinda, I swear it! But first, I would prefer if Xavier actually be in California when I arrive. So, it looks like I won't be visiting for awhile (he hasn't even left NY for Omaha yet.). Perhaps later this year.

Oh no, because of unexpected circumstances, I have to go close the parent's shop this weekend. I'll be stuck there till 7:30. Doesn't look like I can carpool. You think the shindig will still be going at 8pm?

Mike & Juliette- Hurray! You two are like jello - there's always room.
Val - Ah, we'll miss you, Sweetie. But you're right, if you're in town, we'll have a Shinda.
Sandy- We go until everyone gets too pooped to party. With it getting dark so late, I expect that the Shinda will go until 10PM. It's been a long time since Endercon; I'd love to see you again.

Aw rivka. We must be sure to do another luncher soon.
Ladydove, can you email me your phone number? I'll call right after work to make sure it's all good for me to come over. I would love to see you again!

Mooses, is that offer still open? *GRIN* Psych's office called to reschedule to *mumbles incoherently*... Eh, I wrote it down. *shrugs* ANYHOW, I can come, after all.
I would most certainly accept a ride with you and the herd.

LD: I had some of that sweet corn too, I swear!
We bought fresh picked cherries, and had a win-ding party that my parents have every year. It's their way of thanking all the people that help them throughout the year with our cottage. They live in RI, and our friends all have keys and look after the place for us. They even prep it when we are going in June/July, so when we get there we aren't swamped with work!
I bought my dad an outdoor deep fryer for fathers day 4 years ago, so he fries up 30 lbs of wings, and everyone brings a dish or three, and we have a blast.
We had 34 peolpe there this year with all the kids and grandkids.....not a bad shinda, huh?

Sure, offer's still good. I'd figure we'll be passing near you around 12:30-ish. Fling us an e-mail telling us how to get to where we'd pick you up, and maybe a phone number in case our plans go haywire and we need to let you know of changes. We'll probably go 101->134->210, but we might go 118->210 depending on traffic reports, so give us directions from either direction.
Staying until 10:00 would be great, except for the having two little kids part. We'll probably be leaving before others, since we'll need to get the mooselings down to bed (sadly, Sandy, there's no way we'd be there until 8:00). I would guess we'd leave somewhere in the 6:30-ish realm, so if you wish to stay later you'll need to figure out alternate transportation home.

Just wanna say we had a wonderful time, and we were sorry we had to leave as early as we did. And in case someone doesn't see in the other thread, Mooselet wrote a song about it.

We had a blast! My kids love going to the Doves' -- and that was BEFORE they got to use the waterslide. As ever, our hosts were amazing, the very models of hospitality.
And it was great to see all the rest of y'all again.
