quote:0-9%: You're clean. Although, the fact that you made it through the entire test without leaving in disgust probably does count for something... 10-19%: n00b. 20-29%: You might be infected. Don't bother making excuses for why you were watching the sci-fi channel anymore, it's too late for that. 40-49%: What's this, a well balanced nerd? Impressive. 50-69%: Dangerously nerdy...no make that dangeresque. 70-89%: You eat lembas for breakfast, know more IP addresses than phone numbers, and watch star trek reruns in your head. w00t! 50% -- pretty good for a test THAT weighted toward the nerdy stuff I don't know. Needed more Star Trek, less D&D.

Given the URL, I rather suspect its a college student. Probably a freshman or sophomore, though, as by his information he has not yet chosen a major.

I took a much harder, much more comprehensive "Nerd Test" that was posted on an MIT website. It made me feel like a chump. I think I got a 15% or something. Gotta love a test that asks chess strategy questions.

Bwahaha. Eddie, you owe me. *grin* 71.42857142857143%
People, age has nothing to do with this. It's actually got a pretty decent sampling from sci-fi of the last thirty years -- and, let's face it, being familiar with sci-fi from BEFORE the last thirty years won't qualify you as a nerd; it'll qualify you as being old enough to be dead. It was actually kind of embarrassing how many of these I was absolutely SURE about; based on the final score, I must have missed almost every single one I guessed on.
Edit: I beat Geoff? But he's a PROFESSIONAL pop culture nerd! *suspicious look* I bet he threw that test.

I quickly realized that most of the questions would be completely incomprehensible to me and stopped after #4. I thought I was more knowledgeable about nerd culture than that.
I bet Andrew will ace it, though.

Licky, I picked Icarus on that question precisely because that's your handle...I thought there was a slight chance you picked it based on that story or whatever.

I'm a little nerdy but all the tech questions got me. Plus I missed some that I knew so i'm a bit more nerdy than this shows. At least I have proof now that I'm not a super nerd!

50% Some of them were rediciulously easy to use multiple choice logic to eliminate. In terms of what I actually knew, I probably should have gotten 25%-30% especially since I don't game.
I expected to know nothing. The only ones I completely had to guess on were computer games. It's too late to escape though. My nerdiness will grow and fester in my veins.
Some of them I'm kicking myself for getting wrong, though. How many times have I listened to HHGTTG?
Okay, so I made up the numbers after the decimal. I am a well-balanced nerd. In other words, I know the movie and book references but don't play D&D or video games.

64.28571428571429% for me. I'm definitely one of the nerdiest here. Most of the ones I missed were about computers or math. That's my even nerdier brother's forte, not mine.

While I love Tom and hold him in the highest regard, it never would have occurred to me that Lalo would win his bet if the test in question actually measured nerdiness. Given the real chance, I'd be $20 richer.
However, via deduction and multiple-guess skills, I achieved the same score as he did, which scares me to no end. I don't think of myself as nerdy. I was, long ago, but I thought I outgrew it more than I have. *sigh*
I only scored with 26.19047619047619% nerd blood flowing through my veins.
However, I have to admit, the only computer game I even own at the moment is the Sims and there wasn't one question about that on there...

It's safe to say that if the only computer games you own are "The Sims," "Railroad Tycoon," or "Madden 2004," you're probably not a nerd.

Mine was 45.23809523809524% nerd blood flows through your veins. You know what worries me... it's not the missed game questions or the missed STAR TREK references (mostly the Klingon). It's definitely not Dune or HGTG references (if I had missed those I'd have kicked my own nerd butt). It's the fact that I cut and pasted the result rather than just rounding the number and typing it up in the post. That could just be laziness though.
*Looks at the other posts in this thread* Can I assume that most of the rest of you did the same thing?
BTW... according to the percentile I fall into, I am well balanced. Guess there is a first time for everything.
