I have a Truly Great Idea for a game. It is simple, has very few rules, can be learned in less than 1 minute but has subtleties that make it challenging to master. I really think this game has great potential to be very popular, especially if it is marketed well.
Does anyone know how I should go about contacting someone? Who should I contact? How can I limit my risk of having this idea stolen? (It really is of the "I can't believe this hasn't been thought of before" variety.)

I know elsaine develops board games, and I seem to remember his having mentioned something about having some of them about ready for publication, so you might want to send him an email if he doesn't post anything in this thread.

Hi Karl, long time no see! My brother in law develops games. He self published one that I know of.

Fugu, thanks. That was pretty informative, though I don't know how much of it would apply in my case. My game isn't complex at all.
Imagine you designed a game you could play with Silly Putty, or even with some offbrand putty substance like Silly Putty. All I really have to offer are the rules. If you know my rules, all you have to do is buy Silly Putty. But that doesn't mean my rules are worthless. They could be worth a lot to Silly Putty Inc. if they were to market the game and it became a hit and therefore helped them move twice as much Silly Putty.
(NOTE: my game doesn't use Silly Putty, but the analogy is a good one.)
