so i'm about to start coding a forum, and i'm looking for good ideas; stuff that either hasn't been done yet or has been done in different places but not together.
first; what are you favorite forums (other than hatrack of course)
second; if you could design the perfect forum, what would it do?

Well, as an exercise it's interesting, but be warned that you should expect to put in many man hours to reach polished basic functionality, much less innovative new features.

I think that a forum dedicated to RPG might do well. Looking over the Overlook thread at sakeriver has made me nostalgic for role playing. I never thought I'd consider playing D&D again, but now I wonder.
I emailed an old friend of mine some of the entries on that thread (he used to be an incredible DM), but he was intimidated by it. His response was "Yeah, a game played by writers. Of course it's fun to read!" He doesn't consider himself a writer, so was put off about the idea. Which just goes to show you how good those guys are doing with that silly little game! Kudos Slash & Company!
