Is that the same Daenerys sample that was posted a long while back? (If it is, I don't mind -- I didn't get around to reading it before a different chapter got posted.)

I missed the Dany chapter last time it was posted, so I have no idea, I'm afraid. This doesn't really seem like an example of his best work, although I thought that the conclusion was well done.

Yes, that one has been out there a while - unfortunately, it's not new.
His comments about the election were more civil - I appreciate this paragraph
quote:I have also received some thoughtful and considered missives from Bush voters, expressing their disagreement with the views I expressed in my last update. I wish I had time to answer those, since I do believe that the only way America is ever going to heal is if people of good will on both sides talk to one another and find some common ground. However, the last thing I need right now is to engage in twenty or thirty protracted political discussions via email. I do appreciate those letters and respect those who took the time to write them, as much as we may disagree on Bush, Kerry, and the issues.
Which redeems him somewhat in my eyes. I still didn't like being called someone who supports bigotry and hatred, as he blanketly called all Bush voters, but if I only bought books and watched movies written and made by people who I agree with politically I'd be sorely lacking for entertainment a lot of the time.

Well I think a lot of people ion BOTH sides are looking back at how they felt during the election process, and possibly right after too, and are realizing that we need to move on.
I am not a Bush supporter, and I do think parts of Bush's agenda is dangerous, but then so were some of Kerry's. There is always an element of risk when dealing with public policy.
While he is not the President I would have chosen (I prefer someone who would be proud of achievements, not mediocrity ) I don't think that he is evil, or that he will ruin the US beyond repair. I don't think all the people who voted for him are idiots, or bigots....but I think that when choosing between the two candidates the bigots were strongly pro-Bush.
I am glad that GRRM was more respectful of others in this months message, and I respect the fact that he is more willing to fight for his beliefs now, rather than giving up and moving to France....
