I have to wonder as the US pulls out of Iraq and Afghanistan is on the horizon, the US military will need *something* to keep up defence budgets. Cyberwarfare is pretty good, no casualties, non-transparent, no ugly civilian deaths, no real upper bound on expenses. Maybe they can even stamp out embarrassing things like Wikileaks.
So I look with a jaded eye at hype over what may very well be manufactured threats and attacks to justify spending.

By the way, Ethan Broner has a son serving in the Israeli military. There was a controversy about how ethical it is for Broner to keep covering the Mid East conflict. But as the New York Times is mostly run by Jews very partial to Israel, they stuck by him.
