I've seen an effect in iWork with images in documents that have a shadow dropped underneath them in a special manner. Rather than being a square shadow dropped at a set distance, angle, and opacity from the image, there is also a slight curve to the shadow, as if the image is resting on a curved surface and the edges are farther from the surface than the center.
Trouble is, I can't figure out how to do this in Pages. Anyone have advice?

Ah-hah! I finally figured out that what I really needed to do was a pply a picture frame to the photo that LOOKS like a curved shadow. Neat.

Possibly Dumb question: What does mayfly mean? I keep seeing it all over this forum but haven't figured out what it means. I visit a lot of forums and don't ever see it anywhere else.

A mayfly is a thread where there is a limited purpose, like say help with something. Often the thread is deleted or allowed to just die once somebody has gotten the help they need. Occasionally it will develop into something else and they might edit out the Mayfly aspect.
It's a reference to the insect of the same name that upon reaching adulthood lives for a very short time before dying.

I've wondered about this myself, but based on observation, it seems to mean that the topic is "temporary" and is intended to answer a quick question or plea for advice.
Also (and I may be wrong about this)...it seems to mean that the topic could be deleted once the answer has been found.

Yes. The original use of "mayfly" was meant to indicate that it would probably go away in a day or so.
