Until I get my PS3 I currently don't have any spare towers to use as a Linux server (as I've as you all know I've moved out and no longer have access to my parent's older computers) I am contemplating online webhosting of the paying kind.

Here's what I want:

-Primarily something I can use as a Linux server and has a bash shell. Basically something which I could replicate all of my school linux related work on (my schools server is crash prone).

-Has databasing capabilities so that I could host a forum if need be.

-Basically has everything I need to host a fully functioning website, with email, php enabled so on and so forth and good amounts of storage.

So far I am thinking netfirms.

http://www.netfirms.com/web-hosting/

Do they look like a good candidate? I basically want a domain name as well like saw www.something.com which would go to my site and not some crazy long url.

Hmm, seems ASP .Net and ms-sql are only availiable in the "special offer" a part of my schooling involves a bit of ASP and being able to host it could have educational benefits but I'm not sure I need it as afterall Microsoft Visual Studios lets you sorta host on your machine.

Well in case I want to try experimenting with ASP websites as as annoying the language is it would be neat to try applying what I learned. But if I don't need it I don't need it.

You'll have more luck finding Windows-based servers with MS-SQL support. [Smile]
