This summer I saw a guy playing a percussion instrument. He sat crosslegged on the ground and held the instrument on his lap. It was as big as to cover his legs. It was round, and it was closed, like two large bowls glued together so it had the shape of a flying saucer. It was made out of some metal. He played it hitting it softly with his hands. The strange thing was that the sound that came from it was exactly like the sound of a harp, as if there were strings inside.
Do you happen to know what it is called?

There was also a sample song on the first link you gave, aspectre. The sound on that link, and the sound on Ian Dogole's are somewhat different. The Dogole's piece has a little more "reedy" sound to the music. It is a difference in the way it is played, or a difference in the way it is recorded?
