I have no reason, really, for posting this. Other than the fact that I came across an online video of the opening stuff from H.R. Pufnstuf yesterday, and the theme has been going through my head all day.

quote:
Once upon a summertime
Just a dream from yesterday
A boy & his magic golden flute
Heard a boat from off the bay

"Come and play with me, Jimmy.
Come and play with me.
And I will take you on a trip
Far across the sea."

But the boat belonged to a kooky old witch
Who had in mind the flute to snitch
From her Vroom-Broom in the skies
She watched her plans materialize

She waved her wand!
The beautiful boat was gone!
The skies grew dark!
The sea grew rough!
And the boat sailed on and on and on and on and on and on...

But Pufnstuf was watching too
And knew exactly what to do
He saw the witch's boat attack
And as the boy was fighting back

He called his rescue racer crew
As often they’d rehearsed
And off to save the boy they flew

***But who would get there first?***

By now the boy had washed ashore
Puf arrived to save the day
Which made the witch so mad and sore
She shook her first and screamed awaaaaaaaayyyyyyy!

H.R. Pufnstuf, who's your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuf, can't do a little 'cause he can't do enough.
H.R. Pufnstuf, who's your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuf, can't do a little 'cause he can't do enough.

I never understood that. "Can't do a little 'cause he can't do enough"? Huh? What does that mean? It rhymes, okay, but it doesn't make any sense.

And now I think I'm going to have to find a video of the opening scenes from Lidsville, because I remember there being a crossover where Witchiepoo from Pufnstuf (the kooky old witch) came to visit.

This all seems to be an indication that I'm not having fun with my current project at work.

Incidentally, the kid in Lidsville was played by Butch Patrick, who was Eddie, on the Munsters. And there was one episode where he disguised himself as a wizard, and did the whole widow's peak thing. He was totally a grownup Eddie.

Pardon the boringness.

Makes perfect sense...

if you've puffed enough stuff.

At first I thought, "sure that makes sense, why try to do anything if you know its not going to work out."

But then I read through the poem and Pufnstuf saves the day, so the lines at the end really don't make sense.

But I agree with Dan_raven

I loved HR Pufnstuf when I was a little girl. The boy who played Jimmy or what ever his name was (I *do* remember the name of the magic flute of course) was Jack Wild, who played the Artful Dodger in Oliver!. I had such a crush on him! <sigh>

The boy was Jimmy and the flute was Freddy.

Jack Wild, unfortunately, died of mouth cancer.
