Reading this (just a part of a larger poem):
But in her web she still delights To weave the mirror's magic sights, For often thro' the silent nights A funeral, with plumes and lights nd music, went to Camelot: Or when the moon was overhead, Came two young lovers lately wed "I am half sick of shadows," said The Lady of Shalott.

Believe it or not, I'm walking on air I never thought I could feel so free-e-e Flying away on a wing and a prayer Who could it be? Believe it or not its just me.
Or this: Take the good, you take the bad You take them both and then you have The Facts of Life, The Facts if Life.

Believe it or not, George isn't at home please leave a message at the beep. I must be out, or I'd pick up the phone Where can I be? Believe it or not, I'm not home!

Hmm, those are certainly worthy, but not good enough to replace the all powerful Growing Pains.
I'm gonna try a little bit of "Well there must be some magic clue, inside these gentle walls. Because all I see, is a tower of dreams, and real love burstin' out of every seam!" but I don't know if it will work or not. Or if it would be better. It would definitely still me make me far happier than it ought to.

OK, sorry for the multi-posting, but something just happened that has made me extremely happy. There is a Stop & Shop around the corner from my house that has a $5 limit on credit card purchases. This annoys me to no end because I often buy cigarettes, beer and food from them and don't like having to pay extra just to pay with a card. Well, I just got off the phone with the cc company and it is apparently illegal to impose a minimum and they will take care of it before the end of the day tomorrow.
It was just too easy. I didn't like something and thought it was wrong, made a phone call and took care of it. Yay! Something went the way it was supposed to!

My bad, that wasn't worded well. Independently purchased cigarettes, beer and food. All of which are potentialy under $5 and would require me to purchase something else for $2-$3 that I don't need/want. But it has been defeated by the glory of COMPLAINING! Mwahahahah!

I wonder if that's why everyone in my office was looking at me funny. It's not because I was singing the Growing Pains theme song at the top of my voice, but because I had the words wrong. It makes so much sense now.

vonk, there's a reason why that store has, or had I guess, a minimum purchase for using a credit card. In addition to a small percentage of the sale, they probably also have to pay a set transaction fee. By paying for a $2 purchase with your card, the store is probably going to lose money on the sale.

Why should that be the consumer's problem? If you accept credit cards, then accept them. If not, then don't.

Oh, I know they have a reason for doing it. Probably a small percentage. That's fine. I understand the reason. But that doesn't make it legal. I have a right to be able to buy whatever I want for however much I want (assuming I can afford it of course), granted by my bank and the cc company. Stop & Shop is infringing on this right. No longer.

I've seen that at other stores before; I'm surprised it's illegal. Maybe just not permitted under the terms of agreement they have with the cc company.
I've seen stores with that policy posted - minimum charge for Credit Card $10, or something like that. It's annoying, but not as annoying as finding out - after you've dragged your four kids around the store and had everything rung up - that they won't take your credit card unless you buy more. Grr.
Sorry, no happy thoughts, all my happy thoughts were reasonable today.

I work at a newspaper. Our photographer recently had to make a $10 purchase at a small town convenience store when all he wanted was a gatorade and a banana, because it was their policy to require $10 minimum purchase with debit cards. He was shaking and ready to pass out from working in the heat (covering an event in that small town), but the cashier wouldn't relent. Even when he was just a few cents shy of $10, he still had to buy something else.

That is when it helps to know that it is not allowed. Assuming his debit card was supported by a major credit card company, the threat of a fine is sometimes enough to get them to relent.
