Took one year of Spanish, but I also grew up in San Diego California so I'm fluent in Spanglish.

FYI, there are two missions that share Las Vegas. The Strip is basically the dividing line. The missions also split the rest of the state of Nevada.

And unless you're Canadian, you don't have much chance of being called to Vegas. For some inexplicable reason, almost all of the missionaries we've had here have been Canadian.

If you are unusually good looking, you might get sent to Haiti or the Dominican republic. I'm not sure what it is, I sometimes think it's an agenda to let such boys experience humility. You are a guy, right?

I know nothing about this, but I'm really interested. They sort missionaries by looks and country of origin? Where do the ugly missionaries land up?

I've known several young men who were called to Vegas from SoCal. All but one of them to the Spanish-speaking mission.

I'm interested in how your 2 month old niece chose Belgium. Did she toss her pacifier onto a map of the world and it landed with the tip stuck to Belgium by a thin strand of saliva or something? Or is she just very precocious for a 2 month old and already saavy about missions?

Tante, nobody knows how the choice is made. It's one of the ineffable mysteries of existence.

There was an Elder from Wales in my student ward when I was in school out there. He had a cooler accent than Canadians. [Smile]

I'll guess the Bolivia Cochabamba mission.

Isn't the rule that once you guess it, you aren't going there? That's why I told everyone I wanted to go to Kentucky. [Big Grin]

Well, I've been told that if you guess it, you won't go there. If you don't want to go there, you will go there.

As for how my two month old niece guessed, we asked her very nicely and she said bulglagm. My sister-in-law interpeted that to mean Belgium.
