I get on to kids all the time for typing improperly. Not just the extreme 1337 examples, but simple things like typing "U" and "R".
But I am a hypocrit.
I never say "cuz" but I always type it. I'm not even sure how to spell "because" anymore. Does the A or U come first? My brain doesn't remember spelling, my fingers do and they've been trained that it's spelled "Cuz"
Prolly.. I never say Prolly. I type at all the time. I SAY "Probably"
'sides. Does anyone actually not pronounce the leading "be"?

I type "cuz" when I'm typing on AIM or something, mainly just for speed purposes. I've never done the U or R or use of number things though. Now with posts on here and when I'm really talking in real life, I don't say "cuz" or anything like that. So I really think it's just a speed thing for me on AIM.

The first time I saw "prolly" - I was on an email listing and this one woman always used it. Her grammar and spelling weren't the best anyway, and I just assumed she was illiterate. I didn't take her posting very seriously as a result. It was several years before I realized it was netspeak, and I still hate it and refuse to use it.

There was a really cool article posted here a while ago about how we read, and that we can read an entire paragraph where NOTHING was spelled even close to right, as long as the first and last letters of each word were correct. It had to do with pattern reconisition IIRC>
Anyone remember that, or know where I could find it? I wanted to give it to someone at work...

I'll do "prolly" and "figger" instead of 'probably' and 'figure', but only on net-related stuff, like Aim or the 'rack.
