I tried to buy it for my father for Christmas, but the local Books a Million wouldn't give me the appropriate discount. Their website said I would get 35% off, but they only offered me 10% at the register. I was furious, because I had to mail the gift out the next morning and didn't have time to wait for it to be delivered from the internet.
I want it bad too, but I really wanted to give it to my father. Since the LOTR connection was one we were able to make instantly with each other when we were re-united.

I note that further down the page, they have that packaged with a copy of The Silmarillion at a special price. I was suprised to see that it cost MORE with the Silmarillion though. It should be less.
<insert how much I hated that book here>

Really, Bob? I loved it. I didn't like it when I tried to read it cover to cover...it was never intended to be read that way, and it shows. I love it because it shows a lot more of the history and thought that went into his world-building process, and the stories resonated with me a lot.
