Hi! My name is Shmuel. I'm a flaming liberal feminist radical individualist, moral relativist, non-practicing fundamentalist Orthodox Jewish editor, writer, and graduate student. I like words, and popular culture, and having a coherent and consistent personal philosophy. Sadly, I'm only about 95% of the way there at the moment.
I've been lurking for a little while, and posting over the past few days. I'm only reading about one thread in ten at the moment, so I haven't been completely assimilated, but there's only so much time. Chris Bridges is responsible for luring me here in the first place; you can read his testimonial here, in the "Puzzle" thread.

*laugh* I've already welcomed you, so I'll refrain from doing so again.
I followed most of that. But what does "non-practicing fundamentalist Orthodox Jewish" mean? In words of two syllables or less?

I was raised Orthodox Jewish (Lubavitch family, Litvish Yeshivish schooling). Over the years, I've had a bit of trouble reconciling that with the moral relativism, plus I was curious about pepperoni pizza. (That's the highly abridged version of at least a decade of personal wrestling, anyway.) I decided to give non-observance a try and see whether it worked out any better. I officially went off the derech (strayed from the path) a week before I turned 30; I'm now a month and a half shy of 32.
I haven't made any long-term decisions just yet. As it stands, I'm not frum (observant), but I'm decidedly theistic, and my viewpoint is in accord with the Orthodox Jewish one far more often than not. And while pepperoni pizza is good, it's not that good. We'll see where I end up, I suppose.

A slice, yeah. LOL Or a piece of ... But she'd probably play hard-to-get, I hate that. If she's geeky, and we go out again, this could happen.
Now that I've tortured that joke metaphor to death-- Shmuel, if you are a real paranomasiac, you can make your bones on this thread: Pun Smackdown XXIX: The diet of (tape) Wurm , our most recent Pun Smackdown thread. C'mon newbie, let's see if you can cut the mustard!

I haven't welcomed you yet, but I've noticed you! Hi Shmuel!
My grandfather's name is Shmuel. So is my dad's cousin (on the other side). Just thought I'd point it out. Good to see you!
