We spent this evening at my parents, where my charming Sister-In-Law gave my son a cute stuffed Easter Bunny that, when the button was pressed, sang "Peter Cottontail".

And sang it over and over and over again.

As we were driving down the dark and lonely road that leaves my parents house, Sasha was playing his bunny in the back when I turned a corner as saw two cute white bunnies in the middle of the road.

"Look Sasha" I said, as the toy sang "Here comes Peter Cotton Tail"

Then I realized what the bunnies were doing.

Its spring, a cool but comfortable evening, a Dark evening, two adult consenting bunnies....well, two bunnies when they started across the road.

Hey, they are rabbits. What do you expect.

Cindy doesn't quite notice what the bunnies are up to so she calls out "Look Sasha. Look at the Easter Bunnies Pappa found."

While the toy sang "Hippity Hoppity Easter's on its way" the boy bunny was trying his best for some hippity hoppity, but the girl bunny was trying to get off the now crowded road.

"What?" Sasha asked, trying to see from his secure and site-line impaired safety seat. "Where."

"Never mind Sasha." I responded. I was not ready to explain to him about the rabbits and the bees.

Though his toy crooned in with "Every little Girl and Boy, A basket full of Easter Joy..." Well, that's one way of putting it.

[sings] Every bunny, loves some bunny, sometime [/sing]

I tried making rabbit soup one time, but everyone complained. They all said, "Hey, there's a hare in my soup."

"Hare in my soup"
That's almost as funny as "hair spray"

Everytime Livvie asks for pet bunnies, I tell her, "No sweetie, Daddy would try to eat them".

The other day I saw a news piece about getting bunnies as pets, then abandoning them.

What a waste. Pets while their young, dinner later. [Big Grin]

The original post reminded me of one time I went to the zoo during "mating season." I was quickly steered out of the zoo, this was when I was five.

Steve I had a male friend who skipped school to visit the zoo. He habitually skipped classes. He ended up meeting a woman there. She found him very interesting. He did not find her interesting at all. Yet it was mating season so everywhere he looked, she was showing him the wonders of nature.

She scared him good.

He never skipped school again.

Heck, he later showed up at school with a 102 degree temp.

I remember walking with my husband in Vermont when we were first dating. We looked down in the mud, and saw the coolest creature, one we had never seen before. It was...two frogs.

Since it seems appropriate in a thread about bunnies, has anyone heard of the recently-out Runny Babbit by Shel Silverstein? I haven't read the book, but I've seen it advertised...

You should all go to the Shel Silverstein website and watch the animation for Runny Babbit. It's highly amusing. [Smile]

I've had my own unfortunate Easter Bunny incident. My See's bunnies got here, and one was smashed! [Eek!] The earliest they can get the replacements here is the day after Easter. [Frown]

Dan, you realize you missed out oin a valuable teachable moment there, right? The one where you make mammalian reproduction seem as boring as possible.

Ah...Dan_Raven writes his first novel:

A tale of two bunnies.

In reading your first post, Dan, I kept fearing you were going to tell us how you ran over the bunnies just as Sasha was saying how great they were.

I wouldn't eat rabbit for a guinea! Pig, on the other hand... Mmmm. Though it would result in a lar-ger bill.

A lot of ducks lived by my university residence a few years ago. One day I was walking outside (for some reason with my camera) and I saw two of them...together. A male on top of a female. But this story is not going where you think! He was simply standing on her back. Just standing. Only feet and back were in contact. Getting a piggy-back around. Or a ducky-back, I guess. It was highly bizarre and hilarious, so I took a picture.

Unfortunately, when the pics came back, I was too busy recalling the hilarity of seeing ducks stand on one another to really notice that from the high angle my camera was at it could look like there might be more 'interesting activities' happening. So I innocently posted the picture on my res door thinking it was funny, and naturally when everyone else saw it, they assumed late-night Nature Channel things, and I became "The Duck Porn Girl" for a month, despite my best attempts to explain.

I am to date the only person I know who has seen ducks standing on one another. Perhaps it was a duck game. I suspect fowl play. Or maybe a prequel to those 'interesting activities'. If there had only been two more, it would clearly have been fowl four play, after all.

I hope no one cries "fowl" at my resurrecting this, but we have ducks at the pond behind our apartment. I've seen this several times, including just the other day. And yes, they were doing that.

Huh.

Well, Dan_Raven, that's a lesson for you! Teach your child now about these things or he runs the risk of accidentally becoming Bunny Porn Boy in university! (And that's got a good ring to it - might stick longer than a month...)

*cough cough*

Right then... I'm going to go on with my life now and pretend I never posted that story.

*walks away whistling without looking back*
