I'm not sure I would go see it with a different cast... and this has been a movie I've been looking forward to since the original B5 ended.

I think that it should be perfectly acceptable practice to swap actors for the same character.
The only actor that I will be really sad to lose is Mira Furlan, who is also Sister Carlotta in the Ender's Game movie of my dreams.

If they are continuing from where the series left off, it should have the same actors. If it is a retelling or whole new story, new actors are okay. I haven't checked to see which one this is supposed to be.

That's all well and good, but if they feel that HAVE to change a character, they should change them all. Just changing one or two would make it feel like B5 Liteā¢. Sort of like Galactica 1980.

Another cast member they have lost is Dr Franklin who died of an anuerism(?) last year.
Still, without replacing anyone you could have a fine movie with just Sheridan, Delenn, (former sentatorial candidate in RL) Garibaldi, G'Kar, Londo and Vir. Heck, they could even bring back Na'toth since she only left to pursue a movie career. (with no hard feelings, unlike Claudia)

I forgot to add, the only person they're actively looking to replace is Peter Woodward as Galen, which I don't care too much about.

What I don't get is that the studio is looking for big name stars for the parts of Galen and the other characters that weren't in the series. (Diane something?) Why on earth would they think that any big name star would want to be in the B5 movie? No offense, but the best this movie can hope for is not to flop. It's never going to be a blockbuster. I can't see any big name star wanting to tie their name to this movie.

I also wish the Marcus Cole character was still around. I just noticed that Jason Carter voiced 007 in Goldeneye: Rogue Agent.

And he had a HUGE staff that was sometimes small and sometimes... umm.. you know I'm talking about that fighting staff he was carrying around right?

I spy, with my little eye, something that begins with "B".
Gotta be in the top 5 dialogue exchanges on TV. At least one of the five funniest. The number of one liners that Marcus had were amazing, and the actor certainly pulled it off well, but the non-humor writing could have been more than a bit better for him.

PS: I love Marcus's "I used to think it was awful that the universe is so unfair..." comment. It rotates in and out of my favorite entertainment quotation spot.
quote:I was sad when Ivanova left the show, but I never missed Marcus.
Well, at least she was around to film "Sleeping in Light". That was one of the best treats for the finale, getting to see Ivanova again and having her become Ranger One.

The only reason she was in that episode because it was originally supposed to come at the end of the fourth season, back when they didn't think they'd have a fifth season.
Once Claudia Christian left the show, she never came back.
I spy with my little eye, something that begins with "E".

Oh, I know that. That's why I'm glad they filmed it during the season four contract, so she would be in it.
