Hey, anybody know anything about MFK Fisher? I'm in the process of getting all of my books on shelves, and came across my copy of Stay Me, Oh Comfort Me. Now, I can remember going to a fair amount of trouble to get my hands on a copy of this book, but I can't for the life of me remember why. Any guesses? I can't remember anything about the book, despite having apparently read it.

Yum. The pinnacle of food writing. Sort of a travelogue of the kitchen.
Edit: was thinking of another of her books (she wrote many). This is a collection of her journals, covering her first and second marriages, travel, hardship, sensuality, and history. Some food stuff too.

Yeah, I read the blurb about it on Amazon. I just can't figure out why it was that I went to some effort to get a copy. I mean, it looks good and all, but I think I remember going to some lengths to get it. This is going to bug me until I either solve it or forget once again that I have this book. I was thinking of The Gastronomical Me (or something like that) by MFK Fisher. I always get it confused with the Canadian food writer Joe Fiorito's Comfort Me With Apples.
I was stricken with doubt, checked Amazon, and found my error. Unfortunately, I am absolutely no closer to figuring out why it was worth tracking down for you. Posts: 2919 | Registered: Aug 2004

I'm kind of thinking that it's a mystery I'll be taking with me to the grave. My best guess is that I heard a piece about it on Fresh Air or something, and thought it sounded interesting.
