I have noticed, even here at Hatrack, that sometimes Firefox acts weird. I like Firefox, and would like to continue using it, but one thing in particular bugs the crap out of me.

Some threads appear in wide screen format. IThey are supersized, and I can't get them to refoprmat to fit in a window, so I have to use the dumb scrol bars just to read all of the posts, and moving back and forth makes me a bit queasy.

It just happened to a threadthat was fine in the first place, Hobbes Archery thread....when I first clicked into it it was normal sized, but now it is huge and it won't resize to fit my window, even when the window size is mzximized.

I am self-taught on computers as some of you know all too well (right Bok and Suneun???.. [Big Grin] ), so there is probably a very good reason this is happening, and probably a real easy solution.....

It happens with links that are too big for the screen. I don't know what the fix is.

I think IE breaks lines at more characters than Firefox does.

Edit: Short of getting the poster to fix the link, you're on your own. [Razz]

Kwea, it's your messed up UBB code in this line:

quote:
Wow, you really DIDN"T look all that hard, huh?

[URL=http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=archery&near=West+Lafayette,+IN&oi=locald&radius=0.0&latlng=40425833,-86908055,32914666 4572109659]It took me less than a minute to find this via Google... [Big Grin] [/URL]

That's doing it.

If you fix your post, it won't have a URL that's longer than the screen width and the thread will magically pop back down to normal size.

How do you change that lenth without ruining the link? I tried to cut and paste it within the URL markings, to give it a better parse for t he browser, but it stopped functioning as a link when I did that....

Using Google directly rather than Firefox's toolbar redirect to Google on
archery "west lafayette, in"
leads to http://www.google.com/local?hl=en&lr=&q=archery&near=West+Lafayette,+IN&oi=localr
which can easily be tagged as archery near West Lafayette, Indiana

And then there's always http://tinyurl.com

Are you sick of posting URLs in emails only to have it break when sent causing the recipient to have to cut and paste it back together? Then you've come to the right place. By entering in a URL in the text field below, we will create a tiny URL that will not break in email postings and never expires.

I remember it being shown here, but I didn't really understand what it was for until CT showed me over at GreNME.

Hey Kwea, I just sent you an email. It doesn't have anything to do with Firefox. Sorry to derail your thread.

I don't know enough about Firefox to solve your problem.
