I've built a couple water cooled systems before. None using car radiators though. My brother and I built this one that was an open system and it was way more efficient than any kit you could buy. The only downside was that you had to refill it every couple hours.

water cooling scares me. thought about putting it into the computer i just finished building...but i was to afraid it would spring a leak...cant affored replacement parts...its still a beast though.

You should be fine, so long as you remember to test the complete system for a day or two outside of the computer first.
