There were plans, right? A website? Is anything going on about that?

Just curious.

The last one I got from her was pretty benign. But I'm not letting that lull me into a false sense of complacency. I've done that before and *whammo!*

Right, but wasn't there a grand plan to have Tom host scanned copies of them, or something?

Tom and fugu have all but the most recent letters and a couple of miscellaneous pages that I have found since (that round out a couple of the incomplete letters) between them with tom having most of them. I don't know if they've concocted a Unified Plan as far as what to do with them. I will say that I'm glad I don't actually have them in my posession anymore. It is extremely liberating.

They were wiped out in the great AJ's Grandmother's Letters fire of '98.

Since only a few are from '97 the main body of work would still be intact Hobbesy.

Yah, but "the great ... fire of '04" just doesn't have the same ring to it. [Razz]

Silly AJ, the Fire of 98 meant that they toasted 98 letters.

Though, unless they were really big letters, like capital W's or something, they really wouldn't make that great of a fire.

*laugh* I've got the bulk and am determinedly scanning them in and transcribing them. This is not going as fast as it should, because I have a baby and a wife who both believe that I have better things to be doing at home -- namely, things which involve paying attention to them. [Smile]

I need to get a giant manilla envelope and just keep stuffing grandma letters in. Then when it is fullish I'll send it off to you.

I'm imagining I'll get some doozies before the holiday season ends. I'm just trying to figure out if I actually should give them an Old Country Buffet gift certificate or not. Last year I gave them olive garden. I guess I could do the same resturaunt again.

Tom--if you email me some of the scans I can try to transcribe some of them in my spare time (when I ought to be translating Latin for my job).

Yup, funny, isn't it? They always seem to want to spend time with you for some reason. [Smile]
