A package came in the mail. I didn't recognize it, I hadn't done any ordering lately. Then I noticed the return address.
My heart beating faster, I tore it open.
It's a book - my second book that I'm published in! And there was a check inside, too!
This is a Christian devotional volume, three of the devotionals in it are mine. Okay, pretty insignificant. But darn it, it still put a smile on my face!
I'm still beaming.
Sad thing is, I signed the contract well over a year ago, and these devotionals were the last things I submitted.
If I could ever get my head screwed on straight about what I wanted to do with my writing I might could build on my momentum and get some more publications under my belt.
At any rate, I'm a happy camper today.

As for the check, it's not worth a lot of partying over, I promise. I told my husband I would take him out to dinner but he wouldn't be able to order an appetizer!
Still, as I'm considering a new project for a YA novel right now, this was a very welcome ego booster at a time when I did need it!
