It was destroyed, and the curse of many tongues loosed upon the world, because the monkeys were getting above themselves, right? (A theme, incidentally, which also occurs in Job. "Shall man be more just than his Maker?") So, why hasn't it happened again, in these days when we build towers that reach the Moon? I don't recall any rainbows promising "Sorry, I went a bit far; no more tantrums" from that particular story.

I think it all has to do with intent. We don't build towers with the intent of reaching God, we build towers because we're low on real estate.

Because the curse is still active.....we still speak in many languages, so are prevented from ever being that close to God again....
