I am so ashamed.

I pride myself on being a nonmaterialistic, liberal borderline socialist.

I'm a fraud.

KoL has unlocked a part of me that has previously been unknown. For those of you who frequent Kingdom of Loathing, you know that many people have been manipulating the costs of goods and amassing personal fortunes by putting outrageous prices on relatively worthless items.

And there are people gullible enough to pay those prices.

Who would have dreamed I would become one of those profiteers???

I scour the market for grossly underpriced items and horde goods until something happens to make them skyrocket. Then I start selling.

I'm getting good at it. I enjoy it. I am getting a kick out of charging gullible players astronomical prices for worthless items.

I just hope my parents don't find out.

If Diane finds out, she'll leave me.

My uncle was a conservative capitalist - I must have had some of his genes lying dormant. Obviously, my Dad must be a carrier.

*hangs head in shame, and shuffles away*

*starts surfing net looking for tax shelters*

*sob*

What gets me is how comedic signatures are sometimes. They are pretty much without sentiment/totally neutral. So for Space to say something so emotional, and then to end it with a neutral sig...I don't know, it just cracks me up.

Like:

"Get a 2004 Toyota Tundra NOW while the prices are hot, hot, HOT!"

Tax, tag, and title not included.

...

Carry on.

Sndrake, the first step to recovery is admitting your fatal flaw. On Dag's porn thread, we have learned that hiding the truth from oneself only leads to Freudian hallucinations. So sad, that.

PSIT,
My favorite was when Imogen used the mad face after every post. I just couldn't stop laughing.

"But please feel free to check out my bartender skulls."

If you change that to "skills" I will definitely check them out. I am in the mood for a margarits-rocks-just a bit of salt. Thanks.

What is wrong with making money? Anyone with enough disposable cash to pay for the items deserves to lose it.

Hmmm...if I'm going to be on the line at the School of the Americas, sndrake's going to be writing letters to lower the capital gains tax.

Bwahahahahahaha. Join us.

I've made seven million charging ridiculous prices for bartenders-in-the-box in the last 20 minutes.

*sob*

Edit to add: Missed the replies from Dag and Bob when they were posted somehow...

Dag,

yeah, sadly, it's fair.

Bob,

Celia already changed my tagline once - PLEASE don't give her any new ideas!

But this is the game, no? It's a way of playing the game.

If you start doing it in real life you can join the clothing industry!

I will say this, I've been kicking large amounts into the clan stash on a regular basis. My karma is sky-high. In the clan, anyway.

Not sure about my karma in other areas. [Wink]

I shame myself.

*Wonders idly if "the island" on KOL has tax sheltered accounts available*

What, did I say that out loud???

You know, it starts small. A little meat here, a little meat there. Pretty soon you're trading futures on Easy-Bake Ovens (or whatever the doo-hickeys are) and then it's just a short skip down the primrose path to burnin' and pillagin' and settin' up offshore accounts.
