One day older. That's the way life happens.
Dismayed about 26 or about the whole getting older thing or the Birthday thing?
As it seems you aren't really looking for me to wish you a "Happy Birthday!' I'm jsut going to say, have some fun, do something a little different, be happy!

I am only dismayed because I didn't do enough with the other 25 years, so... I must somehow make up for it... Especially on one important level... Yes, it is now time to change my WHOLE LIFE.

Hey, Syn - I had a total quarter-life crises at 26. I was bummed out for weeks. I'm approaching 27, and while I'm not exactly looking forward to it, I don't have this fearful expectation like I did at 26.
I think it's because you're now no longer in your "mid twenties," you're now in your "mid-to-late twenties." And that's one whole step removed (and never to again visit) your "early twenties." Everyone expects you to be a goober in your "early twenties," but now you're in your "mid-to-late twenties!" You bess get to steppin' with your life, little missy! And while we're at it, why can't you seem to take responsibility for anything? Don't you WANT a steady relationship/career/child/mortgage/somethingsomething? And so and so forth.
That quarter-life crises thing may be fairly normal. I have no clue. In any case, you're in dubious but somewhat sexy company. So, there's that.

It's a LOT better than 40! I would love to be 26 again! (um, well, maybe not. Guess I was pregnant when I was 26 -- don't want to go through that again...)

Toni, I told you this the first time you brought it up: there ain't no such thing. You have your early twenties, your mid-twenties, and your late twenties. "Mid-to-late" is only a good adjective when you're trying to estimate someone's age and don't want to be too specific. As in, "How old do you think he is?" "Oh, I dunno. Maybe... Mid-to-late thirties."
Of course, none of that changes the fact that you are currently careening toward your late twenties. (Did I actually say that? Was it over the top? I can never tell.)
But it's Syn's birthday thread, right? Happy mid-twenties birthday, Syn!

Happy birthday. Just think, you've got another 75 years or so (hopefully) to achieve all the things you haven't gotten to yet.
Grandma Moses didn't start her career until she was retirement age.
I'm 37 and I just began my "support" career as a teacher (my actual career goal is to be a highly sought after author).
You're just really getting to know yourself at 26 and get comfortable in your own skin. What you've accomplished so far is growing to adulthood and learning what you need to know to steer yourself through the rest of your life.
[OK--I'll shed the "mom" mantle now.]
Happy Birthday and may you have many, many more.

OooooOOO. Like a gold pocket watch that's 100 years old? *wants one* Today, was not so bad... I am oddly not sad about the person I have a bit of a crush on getting all spoony with someone else... Still, I am happy to be alive and I will... Publish something or try to.... soon...
