I have a song in my head, from a French musical. I don't know the name of the song, or even of the musical. And it's driving me nuts.

I know what the musical is about, roughly. A few years (4? 5?) ago in Paris, a bunch of illegal immigrants took up residence in Notre Dame cathedral. They were called the sans-papiers. And eventually the police had to remove them. So this musical was made, blending the story somehow with the story of the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

See, we had a guest lecturer on Cathedrals and middle-ages art and architecture. And she played the opening song for us, which is about cathedrals. But I forget what it was all called.

So I turn to you, my educated, artistic, intelligent and culturally-aware Jatraqueros, to see if anyone has any clue what I am talking about, or can help me. (And no, I'm not above using flattery to achieve my goals.) So if anyone has any idea, please tell me.

Is it Notre Dame de Paris? That's the best I could come up with. I think it's basically the story of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, only a little more elaborate and stuff. It's got sans-papiers in it.

I can't know the name of the song itself until you're a little more specific!

That sounds very familiar. I think that's the musical, at least.

The song in particular was a man with a very oddly-shaped nose singing about it being the age of the cathedral (only part I remember well enough to translate), and it was a time of new beginnings and such. And there were 3 big square pillars with some really ugly gargoyles perched on top moving around the stage at various points.

I'm sorry my description is so sketchy. I only saw the one song, and I don't speak much French.
