Any news on the second book of Lovelock?

It's pending.

Yes, what with it being a cooperative project, it means that BOTH authors will need to find the time to write the book, AND that they have to be free from other projects at the same time. I've kind of resigned myself to the idea that Lovelock is now a standalone book with a mystery ending. (That way, if the sequels DO come out, I'll be really really happy in a surprised kind of way!)

Don't hold your breath.

If I were to pull a guess out of my ear, I'd say expect it in about five years.

I have absolutely nothing to back that up.

You have my estimate that you may be quite right. I don't know. We'll see. Kathy is even more insanely busy than I am. But this delay is ENTIRELY my fault.

It's been 12 years since Lovelock.

Five more years will mean 17 years between books.

Wow.

:-(

It was 20 years from Ender's Game to Ender's Shadow.

But no one asked every few months when the parallel novel was coming out, did they? Because it wasn't expected, and it wasn't, however nice it is to have it, necessary, in order to understand Ender's story.

Whereas Lovelock is clearly part one of a multipart series, so people have been wanting to read part 2 for 12 years.

I'm actually ok with reading it over and over again until the new one comes out. It's probably in my top 5 most reread OSC books. (along with Enchantment, Speaker for the Dead, Ender's Game, ... and that's probably it.) [Smile] Ok, so it's in the top 4!

OSC in only of the only authors who's books I actually reread from time to time. I loved Enchantment!! I only recently read Lovelock (a year or two ago.) And though I immediatly wanted the next one, I'm fine with waiting. Think of all the other books OSC had written in the past 12 years! Magic Street was WONDERFUL!! Shadow of the Giant is what has me anxious. It seemed to me that OSC left a couple of openings in the plot to add on to.
