The Roanoke Times interviewed Card. The article here:

http://www.roanoke.com/extra/wb/xp-68705

Not much new, but it sets a definite 2008 release for the movie. Start the countdown.

Nothing is ever definite in the entertainment industry [Smile]

I wouldn't count on 2008 if I were you, but no harm in being optimistic I guess. [Smile]

Haven't read the article, but if it sets a definite date, then it didn't come from me. There's a possibility of 2008. Depends on how they feel about the script I just finished. If somebody else has to do a new script, that'll push back the date by quite a bit.

Grrrr...you and your simplified characters. What's the 4th one over, xie?

A, zhen de xie? wan le ma? Tai bang le!

Blayne, I suspect that this person lives in China and is using a native Chinese operating system. Particularly because she's not allowed to read further in the Shadow series. Wonder why? [Razz]

He's finally finished! Yes!

That really sucks that China wont allow people to read the whole series. I think that the censorship over there is disgusting. Even though I wouldnt care that much if I never saw CSPAN again...
You can see a tank on Chinese google images if you type in "tienneman" instead of the correct spelling

Cool, thanks I thought it was Xie. I learned the original characters initially, and then later in college used some simplified. So I'm always a little unsure when reading jian ti zi.

If my knowledge was more solid, I'd be able to recognize the radicals that changed and be sure, but honestly for most of the words I read it's mostly pattern recognition (which is why I read so much more than I write- you can't do that with writing).

This is how rumors start. [Smile]

You might want to read Card's post above. Not rumors...

Check back the 5th of never. I put the over/under of a release of any OSC movie at around 2025.

I didn't mean that there would be a movie in 2011. Just that there might be an update. [Wink]

I'm betting on a 2012 release, a few days before the world ends. [Smile]

I was actually estimating the release date for a few days after the world ends, myself.

All of the anticipation and corny merchandise but still no movie. [Wink]

I really wish it would get made soon because I'm so excited to watch it!
What makes me sad is that I read the book when I was twelve and there were rumors about the movie even then, so I was hoping I could be an extra on it lol! Like, one of the kids at Battle School or something. But now I'm sixteen (sigh)... Anyway I hope it comes out before I'm thirty.
