Just saw it for the 2nd time.

Wow, creepy. I've never seen Spielberg doing "creepy". The timing of events and sequencing is masterful. The machines have CHARACTER. They emote in some kind of creepy body language that registers subliminally in your mind. Dakota Fanning's performance is top notch and Cruise doesn't throw his weight around so much. Tim Robbins is nuts.

This movie also shows me that Industrial Light & Magic can make "realistic" looking objects as opposed to Lucas-driven, oversaturated, "too perfect" CGI drivel. Sorry ILM but WETA and Pixar have been kicking your collective butts in the "realism" field since '01. About time you brought something disturbingly good looking to the table.

The music comes in at the right moments and only when it's needed. Williams 12-tone musical craziness works great. The sound design is perfect for every scrap of visual info that's flowing into your occipital lobe.

Aside from a few "questionables" this movie is delightfully disturbing, creepy, and nail-biting. A definite must see.

[Eek!]
