I was wondering whether you had a favorite or least favorite character to write among Ender, Peter, and Ender-Peter. They're three of my favorites of yours, so I got thinking on them. I am, as I know many of the others here are, an amateur author, and I know sometimes it can get boring writing characters who are truly good. Ender certainly has his share of flaws, but I don't think he does a single selfish thing (at least, that I can remember) in all of the books you've written. (I'm not complaining - I adore Ender.) Did you ever get bored of writing him?

I think killing Stilson was selfish on Ender's part. We might deem it necessary, but no way can it be considered altruistic.
The more time I spend with a character, the more involved I become with the way he or she thinks. I live inside their heads. I come to know them. That makes them "favorites" whether the character is admirable or not.
If you mean, though, which characters I ADMIRE most, that's a difficult thing to say. I admire good people. But I also admire weak or sometimes-bad people who are trying to do better.
And THAT doesn't say anything about which characters I would LIKE if they were real people. Which of them I'd hang out with. Some of them would be so uninterested in ME that I would be uncomfortable. Peter would regard me as useless and irrelevant. Alvin would find me vain and ridiculous. I can't hang out with people who don't like me.
