OSC as it seems has decided the name of the new Ender novel!!!! In the barnes and noble thing. He was talking about that and he said "Well, we'll see, we'll see. I still think it won't happen, however. And if it does, it will be in Shadows in Flight, not in Ender in Exile. " Then he said "I don't expect ever to write about the members of Ender's Jeesh who aren't directly involved in Ender in Exile or Shadows in Flight.". Dosn't matter what he said but I'm just saying from what I see it has been picked.... Thanks OSC it's a great name!

He told the B&N people before us?! I thought that we were his favourites.

Calm down people. OSC called the it a woriking Title. He even linked back to the thread started on this side on the forum.
Posted by Vadon (Member # 4561) on :
Well, honestly I'd say if it were Exile, to put it as Ender's Exile...
My reasoning being the same as in the thread.
We have Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow. Both two words and possessive to Ender, it just... seems better to me to have it again.
Posted by Taalcon (Member # 839) on :
That's exactly what I said.
...but, he may want to tie it in more closely with Shadows in Flight. The Final Two Enderverse books would have a bit of a connection - Ender in Exile, and Shadows in Flight
But as I said in the other thread, I like Ender's Exile better

I agree.

OSC did call it a working title, by no means set yet. I am attempting to collect a database of all reasonable suggested titles.
So people here can look over the full list before suggesting titles that might already have been said, mostly.
[Edit: After about page 15 or so, I stopped my database. Everyone was suggesting repeat titles anyway, and will probably continue to do so, so why bother?]

It's a working title. Something to call it while we're still thinking.

We'll call them the "in" series. Shadows in Flight, Ender in Exile, Mazer in Kindergarten.

Mazer in Kindergarden? what about a more trekkish title? PLEASE!!!!!!

So I’m excited about this series. But I’m also wondering about the post series. After Children of the Mind. That’s the one I’m really wanting to see. You keep pulling these Lucas stunts on us back in the past with prequel stuff. We need to get back to the future. Errr…. Yeah.

I prefer Shadows in flight, but Mazer in Kindergarden ir fun

Wasn't 'Shadow Puppets' going to be called 'Shadow of the Valley of Death?' (which i think is a song by marilyn monroe)
Posted by theamazeeaz (Member # 6970) on :
ummmm "Shadow of the Valley of Death" is a biblical allusion.
Posted by Carl Conrad Coreander (Member # 7851) on :
Where was it alluding from? I was referring to the afterword of Shadow of the Hegemon.

Marilyn Monroe was known for her bluesy, smokey gospel songs.

i like Shadows in Flight...

How about "Ender's Shadow in Flight" or "Elder Ender's Mission."
Posted by Miranda (Member # 7647) on :
Exile's Shadow and Shadow's Flight, perhaps.
I'd buy Mazer Follows His Shadow to School if it came out in paperback.

I think it's time to jump on the Harry Potter title bandwagon.
Ender Wiggin and the Exile of Shadows in Flight Ender Wiggin and the Sequel to Everything Ender Wiggin and the Mysterious Embryos

Interesting thing about "Ender in Exile" is that it fits with Card's style. It's one of the words he tends to use. I recall seeing it a few times in SotH, and at least once in SP. It's the word he uses unconsciously instead of "banishment" or "expulsion" or "outcast" or "fugitive". So Ender in Exile is a Card-compatible title, while many others that have been suggested aren't as in tune with his style.

HEY DID ANYBODY NOTICE MISTER CARD SAYS "CONSTERNATION" ALOT? WHAT DOES THAT MEAN, ANYNOSE?
Posted by Sid Meier (Member # 6965) on :
*ouch*
my ears...
Posted by CRash (Member # 7754) on :
I am not a nose, so I won't respond. Especially not to a "wat?".
Posted by MrSquicky (Member # 1802) on :
Xeno, Sterno is a flammable gel substance that people use for things like the heat source for chafing dishes. Con means with. So, consternation means with the quality of setting things on fire.
If you want to know more about this word or any other, you could check them out in a dictionary (some of which are online, such as right here.
Remember, if you're not to going to put effort into finding things out for yourself, peopel are going to find it easy to mislead you.
Posted by CRash (Member # 7754) on :
Precisely. It's quite obvious that MrSquicky is misleading you.
Because "consternation" is clearly a combination of "conster" and "nation", conster refering to a confidence man (con artist). Conster-nation means a large body of decievers. Therefore, being in a state of consternation is to be greatly decieved. You are being consternated as we speak, and I am a consternator. It is quite fun, actually, consternating.
Posted by JemmyGrove (Member # 6707) on :
Oh Great Heavens!!!!! That was the funniest thing I've read in AGES!!!!
. . . *chuckle* consternating . . . *chuckle* . . .

Orange7penguin first listed Ender in Exile, bokonon's earlier proposal was Ender's Exile.
