I heard a story yesterday on NPR about research done to invent artificial muscle. Here's the link: Girl arm wrestles with robot
In the broadcast story the scientist suggested the artificial muscles could be attached to an exoskeleton and used to give disabled people mobility. I thought wanted OSC to hear about this right away, but then I realized it was as much for the sake of his son Charlie Ben, now dead, that this occurred to me. Is he still exploring themes of disability in his writing? I read an essay in which he discussed the effect having a brain-damaged child had on his writing, and I wonder how that's changed now. I'll try not to get into a long rant about parenthood and running around with your heart outside your body and how it affects you to hear of the challenges and grief other parents go through.
