Followed, of course, by "It's your first kill, Ender Wiggin" and "It's the Great Bugger, Ender Wiggin!"

I think we should all have a get together to watch the DVD when it comes out.

Then we can take turns either tearing each other's eyes out, or our own.

I'll bring the popcorn.

How about "How the Bugger Stole Christmas" or "The Xenocide before Christmas?"

Pretend like I had time to actually a) come up with something more clever and/or b) compose a brilliant parody using the actual original material like I had planned. Somehow "Not a creature was stirring/Not even Bean sneaking through the air ducts" doesn't have the same ring to it.

Anyhow, I suppose we should leave some of the good ideas so that OSC has something to write about...

Or how about:

Over the river and through the woods
to sister Carlotta's house we go!

The first I was reminded of when I read this article was the Ender's Puppy April Fool's Day joke Philotic Web pulled a few years back. I even double checked the date on the article to make sure I hadn't clicked on an old one.

Merry Christmas To All!!

christmas is coming and all your slightly abnormal but still wicked cool chistmas parodies are tight...i'm still brainstorming some of my own but it's a tedious buisness.

Here's the quote from the latest "review" column:

quote:

Which makes me a complete hypocrite, since I have a contract with my publisher to write a precious-sized book about Christmas in Battle School -- yep, that's right, a Christmas story set in the Ender's Game universe. Look for it next year, right next to The Christmas Box.

I'm hoping that it is somewhat of an underground thing, similar to how birthdays are "celebrated" or Alai's blessing. If there are any Ewoks, though, I'll have finish reading the Left Behind series to see how to plan the next couple of years...

Um....guess it's time to bring this to the top of the stack since it's next year now. Anyways, Just a few questions:

a) What did he mean by "a precious sized book"? Does he mean a child's picture book or a skinny teen wannabi novel or a massive fat novel equal or greater than xenocide?

b) Is the book still in progress? Or has the contract been disposed?

c) And what's he mean "look for it next year, right next to The Christmas Box"? What christmas box are we talking about here?

I think that "precious sized" refers to small hardcover books. It brings to mind the size of Skipping Christmas by John Grisham when it first came out. I my be totally wrong on this one.

I trust that OSC will take the idea and make it something great.

Cmon, Have you ever read anything by OSC that is really as cheesy as you are imagining this to be. I envision something subversive about the christmas story. The students didn't even get to celebrate b-days, I cant imagine that they school would allow a religious holiday. I would think it would have to take place while ender is in an army (not in command) but after he leaves his launchy group.

The fact that no one in EG or ES was overtly religious makes me think that it will not be a traditional christmas story.

I look forward to it.

Sergeant
