Now I originally read this book when I was ironically 6 years old. My friend who was 10 gave it to me to read in the hospital i was sick alot while young. Now this book has had a huge influence on my life and I love it alot. But nough of that it was just for emphasis on why I wanna know.
Anyone have any ideas on actual movie plans, such as auditions, current casting, ect. I'm 17 currently and would fit in absolutly no way. Though I'm curious so if anyone has any info drop it cause it's good to know.

just hit the link on the home page. That article at Fresco has all the updates.
Or, for a shorter answer, nothing is happening yet. The script is being revamped and written at the moment.
Posted by scottneb (Member # 676) on February 19, 2004 04:48 PM:
The easy answer is that they won't be casting for a looooong time. They may have perspective characters planned out, but nothing will be concrete for a while.
The movie is still in its infancy as far as production goes. Yes, a movie that has sat on the drawing board can still be in it's infancy. In fact many films die where 'Ender's Game' is sitting now. They still don't have a final script done. After they do finish the script, they will start plotting their shoots (times of day, camera angles, filters, lenses, composition, backdrops etc.). Then they'll start to look for people to fill the roles, biggest (Ender) to smallest (the guy that walks down the street and says "Hello"). They won't ask for extra's until a few months before they start shooting (which is where you might fit in).
With that said, good luck on getting on-set. Let us know if anything pans out.

I heard that the boy that played Anakin Skywalker was going to play Ender but keep in mind this could be unconfirmed information i havent had time to check around so much lately as with trying to balance between all the stuff in my life but still i cant for this movie to come out im know it is highly anticipated and im sure with OSC working on the script in will no doubt be an award winning movie as following in the footsteps the books have made for the movie to walk in...

I love this side of the forum.
I feel grounded here because nothing will ever change.
I think that the day the film is finally cast will be a sad day indeed. This side of the forum won't be nearly as stable and helpful to me in my life. *sigh* I guess I'll just have to deal with that.

Posted by MidnightBlue (Member # 6146) on February 28, 2004 09:02 AM:
I think if there's going to be another movie made, it would make more sense to follow the ES line. They'd already have a lot of the actors, and by then they would probably all be the perfect ages. Maybe whoever plays Ender would be pretty old by the time they get back to SFTD, so they could just use him again, if he's good enough and willing to do it. So I think we'll really be arguing over who's going to be playing Volescu. (I think I spelled that horribly wrong.)

I can see where it would be critical to cast Ender late, at least early Ender, after all a couple of years is a big difference in those first ten. If they do the story right and don't make ender out to be an overnight success.
I think Russel Crow would make a good Mazar, and a good Graff might be Stevan Segal or John Travolta. (they get fat too!) BC
Posted by scottneb (Member # 676) on March 01, 2004 11:14 AM:
I think we are all underestimating the power of the director in a situation that has the majority of the rolls as children. Fact is, kids are very adaptable. When given a roll, most kids will produce the character very poorly. When a director cares about the film and cares that the children do a good job, he can actually pull the child-actors into their characters and make them actually believe that they are that person.
I'll site the movie ET as an example. If you've ever watched a documentary on the behind the scenes action. You've no doubt seen Drew Barrymore crying between scenes. Steven Speilberg pushed her and made her believe that she was her character and made Drew believe that ET was real. In her mind she was never acting. If the director for Ender's Game is good at that aspect of directing, then any child will do.

I.want.to.be.Peter,
Where do you get your information?
Both of the actors you mention are too old for the role. Osmet in in his teens now. Llyod was the front runner 5 years or so ago but he is also too old now, or will be by the time the movie gets made.
In his last book tour OSC said that the kids who will star in the movie may not have been born yet. Or they may just be toddlers.

Kabederlin, that's why I like him, because he's so bad he's funny. In Walking Tall I think he finally realized he only gets hired for his fame so he doesn't need to bother with that pointless acting anymore.

And for Mazer. In the book he had to be in at least his fifties. I'm too lazy to go back and double check but just doing the math... Will Smith or the Rock would also not fit for those parts. An older guy would be more suitable. Also one that might appear to be weak. Not so muscular like The Rock. Ender underestimated the old man, didn't he? If Chris Farly were around we'd have a perfect Graff... Lol. Just Kidding. But that'd be awesome to watch.

If he were still alive, I would cast Andre the Giant as Bean. I'm sure that, because of his great acting skills, he would be able to play the role convincingly.
How about Robin Williams as Mazar?
How about Whoopi Goldberg as Valentine?
Alan Rickman has the personality to make a great Peter. Put a little make up on him and he could be a lot younger!
Since we now have a black Val and a white Peter, I think we now need an oriental Ender. How about Jackie Chan? All of the makers of his unrealistic movies already make it seem like he can fly on his jumps; this already qualifies him for the battle rooms.
